I think this is a very close game. MSU has been beating themselves with turnovers and penalties. They have a bye week and if they play a clean game, it will be very close. Hopefully, this goes well for RU.

MSU beats Iowa if they didn’t throw 3 picks. Outgained Iowa in yards bigly.

Um - okay sure. Did you even watch the game? On the very next play after one of Michigan State’s picks, Iowa fumbled the football and Michigan State recovered it and took it the distance to go up 16-10. You gonna to pretend that fumble doesn’t happen too in your assessment? I’d hardly say that pick cost them. Another pick was thrown on the last play of the game down 10 with 10 seconds left on the clock. Iowa recovered at their own 32 and took a knee to end the game.

Michigan State threw one more pick in Iowa territory but are you also going to pretend that the pick Iowa threw deep in Michigan State territory didn’t happen?

They fumbled once too…missed a FG and gave up a punt return TD. My point was that they moved the ball better than Iowa did and outgained them bigly.
Iowa was 2-13 on third down conversions.

So Gavin doesn’t use the laces when throwing. Interesting.

They missed a 50 yard FG and their fumble resulted in only a FG drive. The punt return basically just offsets the fumble return for the TD. Iowa won by 10.

The point is it’s wildly inaccurate to speculate that Michigan State would have one but not for those 3 picks.

I should have said sloppy play instead of pointing out just the picks (3 ints stood out)…but my original intent was really meant to be about the yardage differential and how handicapping games is done by looking at the underlying data.
Your criticism is fair since I attempt to keep posts brief (too brief sometimes).

There was sloppy play on both ends. Missing a 50 yard FG attempt is not sloppy or bad luck. Most 50 yard attempts at the collegiate level fail.

After 6 games , RU lost by less points to Michigan than the other 5 opponents. We beat the spread against Wisconsin and just 2 plays from winning the game. We have a reasonable shot to win 4 Big games this year and go to a bowl game. If we beat MSU and Indiana, we will likely be favored vs Iowa, meaning we would have been favored in all 3 games. Let’s be optimistic,
We would have all signed up for 7-5 or better before season started .

Before you have upset wins, you need to win the ones you are supposed to win. Wisconsin would have been an upset. MSU is a game we are supposed to win. Let’s get it done!
In OUR HOUSE.
