He has New Mexico State leading a Hugh Freeze coached Auburn 10-7 at the half.

Took New Mexico State that was 5-21 in the 3 years preceding his hire to a bowl in their first year.

8-3 this year.

While at Minnesota, he beat ranked Nebraska twice, Penn State, and Iowa.

@NickRU714 - you with me on this?

Why don't you bring Flood and Ash back too. You loved both up to the second they go fired. And you still defend both of them over Schiano.

Another RU should hire ( insert name here) that could just turn out like the rest of the should hires that have been posted by others ..

Seems like some just need to find someone else besides Schiano to say will make Rutgers a winner and when one of them proves unworthy, there is always another coach to claim is the greatest.
Hint: one might be "Houston we have a problem"

I guess the staring at the sideline strategy works better there.

Schiano certainly isn't close to being perfect and I don't think it was @Knight Shift who claimed this but last week I saw a few posters talking about how Flood was a 'much better gameday coach' than Schiano because Schiano 'can't beat any P5 teams with a winning record'...in Flood's 4 seasons we beat a total of 3 P5 teams with a winning record, with 2 of them coming in his first season (Cincy and cuse) when the team was made up of all of Schiano's recruits.

No I want you to recognize the two coaches that I said are the best to ever work here
I haven’t thought about if they are the best that ever worked here. I wouldn’t agree to that before researching it

I will stick to facts. Fridge and kill were both very good coaches who had success as head coaches . Fridge had success here as an assistant. Kill did not.

Kill was basically in bed whole time he was here. You don’t need to do the research, I did it for you. They are the best two coaches to ever work here.

Jerry Kill and Ralph Friedgen are the best two coaches we’ve ever had.

OC Jerry Kill was arguably the worst OC ever (definitely since HC Schiano 1.0).
We had the worst offense in the country.

Before you start the “but 3 Big Ten wins!”, those were the definitions of bad wins and unsustainable.
You can’t be one of the greatest coaches ever when your only responsibility was the worst in the country.

The guy was barely ever in the building and couldn’t even fly. His health was as bad as its ever been that season
And now there are “bad wins”. Lol.

Oh I think I misread or misunderstood the original post.
You mean career? Gotcha.

Unfortunately , neither was a HC here or did anything here that mattered.

Fridge did not do anything that mattered?

And to clear things up, the winking guy meme is something that @NickRU714 uses a lot. The whole thread is a joke--fans looking lovingly at coaches that have fleeting success with one great win or one or two good seasons. Jerry Kill had a great win today over an SEC power that is not great this year but coincidentally lost to Jerry Kill last year when he was HC at Liberty. Freeze also knows something about coaching from a bed.

Wondering if folks think Elko is a must hire (not that he would come here). I'm excited for the next couple of years with Schiano as our head coach. Could another coach do better? Probably. But picking that coach would be a crap shoot at best, and I don't like the odds we would get the right coach on the first try. We are making slow and steady progress. Onward, upward.

My opinion:
Kill probably is at a program that fits him to a T.
He might be successful at better programs , but his health might be affected by the higher expectations the fans of P-5 programs have and the pressure put on their HCs to take the program to the top.
His health issues might not be be a problem coaching a program like NMSU . but the stress of a P-5 HC position might just bring back some of the health problems that caused him to take a break from coaching in the past

His health issues were and are very real. Say what you want abiut him as a coach but don’t stoop to that level. If you only knew what it was like to live with that disease you’d keep your mouth shut.
you are his doctor? shame on you for breaking every hipaa law in the book - or, you really don't know.

I have zero doubt he has very real health issues...... and I give him credit for understanding Ash was a total LOSER and it was a no-win situation here.

Nevertheless, he's a well know quitter when it suits him.. he's done it to several programs who wanted him to stay...

and does what he wants..... I don't hate Jerry -- I got no time for him.

@MADHAT1 may have been giving an opinion, but it seems he is not far off the mark. NMSU has given Coach Kill time off this year due to his ongoing issues with his health. In the past, he dealt with epileptic seizures.

It never was. I was excited to see Jerry's little independent team beating an SEC team, and then win. Jerry would not be able to handle the rigors of coaching a B1G team without major accommodations.

Sure. Change coaches because you lost to #2 Ohio State, #3 Michigan, #11 Penn State, #20 Iowa, and Wisconsin. How can we not be better than those cream puffs? Sarcasm.
