Great effort in the 1st quarter! Looks like Coach Flood has definitely gotten through to the team and they are playing at a very high level. I would have loved to see them play like this against Ohio State. Methinks it would have been a much different outcome. 5-5-7 gets bowl eligible and gives Flood a springboard to get the young team ready to rock next year.

LOL at bowl eligibility for a 5-7 Rutgers team would have beaten 5 losing/bottom tier teams

Every thread does not have to add to the misery. Our squad is taking army to the woodshed and I'm allowed to enjoy it. If they finish off Maryland the same way, and RU makes a bowl, I'd be vvery happy.

Glad to see the Floodies start coming out [roll] ,
expect the anti- Floodies to start posting their objections :boxing:

When RU looks like it should win early in the game, I can try to have a little fun
during the game.

Nobody should ever be "happy" with an awful team being "rewarded" a bowl game at 5-7. Com'on now King.

While winning even a low tier bowl game is a reason to be happy, bowl eligibility is even more important to give the kids an extra month of practice. Don't they need it?

Oh, hell yeah, they "need" it, doesn't mean I'm gonna be happy about a bowl game at 5-7. Sorry, I've always hated this, think it shouldn't be allowed and, to be honest, if a 5-7 team can get 2 extra weeks of practice, then ALL teams should get the same 2 weeks. It's pathetic IMHO (and we would have 5 wins with only 4 against FBS programs...).

If people are thrilled that we can beat up on teams like Army and Norfolk State, what was the point of leaving the AAC? If this is the level of competition that we're supposed to get excited about beating, then let's go to back to the AAC and be done with it.

21-14 at half v. a 2 win Army team with a 3rd string QB is hardly "clobbering."

High level??? Would have loved to see them play like this against Ohio State? Flood coaching next year?

This is either the biggest troll ever, or just plain uninformed.
  • Army is the 144th team in the nation. There's horrible, and then there's Army. They're ranked near the likes of Howard and Norfolk State.
  • Army already has 244 yards of total offense in 1 half!!! They average only 331 yards per game all season. If it wasn't for a turnover, they'd probably be leading.
Anyone who thinks Flood can earn another year from any kind of performance over Army ... is an idiot.

I rarely agree with KH, but he's right on the money today.

A W is a W, and gutsy play is gutsy play. The kids need this.

Are you aware this qb for Army is making his first start? He's a freshman who appears to be way more talented. He hasn't made any mistakes and he's as good an athlete as most of our players. Of course their offense is going to be up today. For the guys here who get pissed about it regardless of whether we win or lose, might I suggest a different hobby?

I'm not thrilled thinking a 5-7 RU team will go bowling, but if the Seniors on the team are happy to go to a bowl game with that record, I shouldn't want to deprive them of that opportunity.
If it means so much to me that a 5-7 RU team shouldn't be in a bowl game, I'll just consider the season over after the Maryland game and ignore RU FB till bowl season is over.

Also think , now that 5-7 teams can play in a bowl game, every school's FB team should be allowed 2 -3 weeks of practice after their season is over .

You do realize if we were in the AAC this year we would have been beaten badly by the top half of that league as well. No where to escape to for us.

I'll take a bowl game in the blink of an eye. We lost our top playmaker Carroo for half the season. I want to see this team healthy with a full (as possible) depth chart and a few extra weeks of practice in a bowl game.

When a sh*tty coaching tenure is reaching its dismal end fans get a little delirious and crazy.
