This is craptastic ********. Give it up, folks. If we had a good baseball team we wouldn't even be digging for this kind of garbage. LT wasn't a progressive AD, nor is he that nice of a person all the time (I know because he's in my extended family and he's never been that cordial with me). But the dude is maroon through and through. I don't care about people bashing him for the job he did, because it's warranted. I was glad to see Byrne come in. But this is a load.<div>
</div><div>DS, you may have your reasons for feeling strongly about this, but I just don't see it. I would have heard about this **** from my cousins or my father. As far as they all know, we didn't get into the tourney because of bad losses, a weak schedule, and a lack of quality wins between December and February. In other words, anything else is just an excuse. There may have been a committee-wide bias towards Florida (hence their 10-seed) but it didn't have anything to do with LT. The people in power at State now have the means to do their job to the fullest extent. If they can't get it done, the burden is on them.</div>

which is why I never said anything when I heard it earlier this week (I said last week earlier which was wrong - sorry been a long week). Just doesn't seem fathomable but then someone called me today and said the post on your board is true. And this is someone that never posts here but reads.

That Dawgstudent, the owner of this messageboard, whose opinion is pretty on target on most aspects of all things sports, technology, and especially MSU, is providing evidence supporting theTempleton is a powerhungry snake hypothesis. What is so unbelievable about a guy lusting after power/attention so much so that he would subvert the best interests of MSU? By all accounts the guy (Templeton, not DS) is an introverted, unfriendly, jerk-off.

Had this been ten years ago on G's Page, the original message would have been deleted within 10 minutes of posting it and any further mention of it would be followed withposters getting banned. Swindoll regularly massaged Templetons nuts and in turn was privy to the info scraps and therefore presented all information regarding MSU and the athletic deptartment in a particular fashion. Those days are behindus and I am glad.

I back up the original poster and have heard the exact same story for years. No names because it really doesn't matter. It is good to have these facts come to light and be discussedopenly. I feel for Greg Byrne having to put up withit. If I wereGreg and a job at ASU or Oregon came up,ashitbird like Templeton lingering around like a fart that won't clear the air would be a pretty big reason why I mightconsider going elsewhere, well, that and a big fat raise.

someone who has a personal vendetta against Templeton is behind this. Not exactly surprising that someone would have it in for LT, since he spent a lot of his time making others miserable. But, I just cannot see why he would actively work against his alma mater. Doesn't pass the smell test.

pass the smell test if you believe that LT wants his old job back.

I don't know if he does or not, and I don't know if this is true or not.

I know that LT is a creep, and it wouldn't shock me if he wants to see Byrne fail because I think most MSU people like Greg as the AD and are happy with what he has done/is doing. Greg fired his pet boy Croom and got rid of Polk's regime- both of which are two of the main things that I believe got LT fired in my view- and brought in two coaches that are progressive and are doing good things at MSU and appear to be turning things around for the good of the University. On top of that Byrne is raising money, building facilities, and just outclassing LT in every way shape and form imaginable. And MSU people are noticing- even the sheep- and the people that didn't already relaize how incompetent LT was, now do.

And I will say this- the biggest thing I worry about is Byrne leaving and LT trying to take his old job back. I don't think that will happen as long as Keenum is around, but I'm sure that he will try.

Thanks DS for chiming in. I hate to post a rumor like this that brings the house down on top of me, but all being said, I do know that he's definitely pissing many in Starkville. I'll be posting more should more develop, as I hope you will as well.

And, I personally don't have a vendetta against LT, but my question is for those who keep spouting off about the fact the he BLEEDS MAROON. For those who have posted that statement, at what point do you want us all to believe that he honestly did some real good things for us during his tenure and since his departure and position with the SEC? I can still feel the pain of sitting in Tampa Stadium for our home game against Florida in 1990. Keep bleeding LT!

i am not saying i buy it hook, line, and sinker but i can see it at least as plausible.

in general, people are ********. give them some power and then "take" it away from them and they are usually colossal ********.

this whole thing wouldn't surprise me one bit but it really could go either way.

And I am glad you saw fit to comment on a man having a singular nut at ~5:00 AM on a Saturday!

Now, for a moment lets assume that the Templeton hypothesis is in fact true.........whatis there todo about it? Sure, addmittance is the first step to recovery. LT is an *******, check. LT has a select group of MSU alumni money guys to whom he is beholden and to a degree he is remains in the picture with respect to money, decisions, MSU sports politics, etc....thereby becominga pain in the asstothe ninja, check.

It is likethe cigar boys are driving aMitsubishi Eclipse (MSU Sports) with Byrne in the passenger seat (assume that he could fit in there for this analogy): The cigar boys fart, then while laughing theyturn on the heater, even though it is summer and then they engage thechild locks so that Byrne can't roll down the window and Byrne is forced to sit there and breath in the fart (Templeton) with no control over the windows and he has to smile while he does it because everyone outside can see him through the window so there he sits smiling breathing in Templeton while theCigar boys also breath inTempleton, but enjoy doing so because they are in total control.I keep waiting for Keenum to stop the Eclipse, break the glass, finally clearing the air of the fart, let Greg out and say, "Greg, it is time to get a nice new car....youpick, and you can drive too!" We can alldream?

You couldn't have defined it any better. And with Larry still having an office at MSU, you have to still put up with the prick, even though you are still in charge. We all work for companies and have seen how people can undermine other co-workers when needed. And I would gladly bet that Larry still has some minions roaming the university. I bet he gets phone calls from them daily with updates as to what is going down. I mean, can you really feel how Byrne must feel coming into work and their Larry giving you that **** eating grin, especially when you get hosed by the conference, like we do.

As Todd said, my biggest worry is Byrne leaving us for another university. We are very fortunate to have him. As for what to do with Larry? I would hope that this little post would maybe start the light that would begin the process of moving on even further(get him out of the building) and let him roam on into the sunset in Birmingham.</p>

Did he man the instant replay booths? Did he dress out in stripes for the KY games? Was he on the SEC's representative in the NCAA selection committee? Did he have a say in the Sidney matter? Did he get us matched up against Depaul?

I'm not seeing what exactly he can do to hurt us.

Larry is a snake in the grass. Think back about his tenure. There's cowbellgate, He hired Croom as a p.c. move to please Slive. He controlled the athletics with the backing of the biggest boosters. Not for State's best interest, but his own personal interests. How can we forget the God awful MState logo he tried to force down our throats. Thanks to Polk we at least still have the MS logo in baseball. Does LT get royalties for the university using that logo, since it is his design?

I don't find it far fetched that anyone with his power hunger to hold grudges. He was forced out of office after all. I'm sure that dinged his ego just a little.</p>

To be fair, he lives in Germany. So I'm guessing it was roughly 11AM there. Does that make you feel better?

You post some wild *** stupid rumor with no substantiation at all and you think the burden is on the 99% of us who think it's complete made-up ******** to prove it wrong? I despise Larry Templeton and think he was a terrible AD for us, but I don't for a second think he would actively work to undermine MSU. Sorry, but the burden of proof is on YOU (or at least the burden toshow anything at all that would even begin to support your story).
