Per Trey Biddy a Arkansas media guy

Welp, as long as we improve enough and grab Newton, Arkansas should be an easy win next year.

what a crazy couple of years for that cat. Goes to Michigan in 2007... Richie gets there and tells him "No Spread Fo You...". Goes back home to Ar-Kansas, plays for one year and then goes Pro. I will be glad to get him out of the West....

How much better do you think Michigan could have been the last two years with Mallett and their traditional pro-style system versus Rodriguez trying to ram a square peg in a round hole? I would think they would have won at least 9 both years. Mallett is really freaking good.

Don't discount Tyler Wilson. He can't throw the deep ball like Mallet, but he's been very accurate for them on the short stuff. Arkansas returns a whole lot on both sides of the ball. I fully expect the West to come down to Arkansas and Bama next year with or without Mallet.

Pretty obvious they have some weapons developing down there and Petrino is a good coach. Plus the mental blockage of State against Arkansas, save the last win of the Sylvester era and 1998.

If Mallet has any doubt, he needs to hire Sam Bradford as a career counselor...

Petrino knows what he is doing, so I don't see them being an easy win, especially since we have beat them once in the last decade and never won up there.</p>

The long ball is what destroyed us in nearly every loss this season. Hell, if Snead had come anywhere near a couple of receivers that were running free throughout the game, the Egg Bowl might have been an entirely different story.

That said, for the life of me I can't understand why our fans always seem to call Arkansas a probable win every year. I think we've beaten them maybe twice in the last decade.

Their offense was really good this year. Their defense is what killed them in most games.

You're right. They were very young on defense this year, and they return just about everything from that defense. I don't know how much improved they will be, but the experience alone should lead to a decent amount of improvement.

I'm just saying, with or without Mallet, I think on paper Arkansas will be Alabama's biggest challenger for the West next year.

my buddy, who is an Arky grad and MSU phd, says the same thing.

All I know is that Wilson put up really good numbers in spring and fall scrimmages for Arkansas, and he was doing well enough that there was actually some QB controversy between he and Mallet coming into the season. I can't remember if Petrino followed through with it, but in their opener against Missouri State, Petrino supposedly had planned on starting Mallet in the 1st quarter and Wilson in the 2nd quarter to let them continue their competition on the field.

Point being, they aren't looking at Billy Tapp or Tyson Lee if Mallet leaves.
