Since rumors are encouraged, I've heard this from two different people today.

He was the Chief of Staff for Thad Cochran and the undersecretary of Agriculture under Bush.

Doesn’t he have 4 kids at State that are freshmen and sophomores?- if so, that would be surprising.

Yeah, I could understand if he was approaching 70 and wanted one last gig before he retired, but I mean… he’s only 63.

Plus, the job security for a Trump cabinet member is about like being an SEC coach without a buyout.
So he’d be 68 when the term ends.

Ego. And he will run to DC if he gets the appt. CHS name is also being mentioned.
Is CHS Cindy Hyde Smith? I’m assuming that is the case. I’ve met a handful of our representatives (both MS and other states as well) over the years for different business deals I’ve worked on. And CHS is easily the least impressive I’ve ever met. I remember leaving a meeting with her in a little disbelief that she is a senator. I kind of expect there to be a handful of idiots in the house (Bennie Thompson, plenty of others), but I guess I have a little higher expectations of a senator since it’s a statewide election. Maybe I just caught her on a bad day but it would be disappointing to have someone like her in a presidential cabinet.

I have met serval myself and I honestly I was not impressed with her. I was actually a little ashamed she was our senator. Bennie might have her beat on smarts level.

Ending your career at 68 by working in the cabinet for the president of the United States would be incredible. I can’t imagine many successful people looking at that unfavorably.

Nobody could name Trump's previous Cabinet or Bidens for that matter
I can absolutely assure you that far more people, especially powerful ones, know who the Secretary of Agriculture is than know who the President of Mississippi State University is. Maybe not Mississippians, but that’s kind of the point.
