I guess he's interviewing for an assistant coaches position. Stacy Hester is already calling other coaches and former players offering them a position on his staff at EMCC.

As of yet, I have not heardthat Montgomery was let go?

I confirmed it via telephone from one of his family members.

They built a new baseball field last year and the team did not get to have fall practice at all. They played the fall games, but that was all. Then, with the field not ready in the spring, the players and coaches had to drive to Lauderdale County, an hour away, at their own expense to practice each day. How can you hold that against a coach when you, the board, %*$#%* up with the bids and construction?

This all boils down to a player who quit the team and then wanted to come back. Coach said no and then a meeting occurred with several board members and the parent. Coach still said no, I don't want a guy who has already quit me once .. he will quit me again when times get tough. That's what started all the **** that has now resulted in them not renewing his contract.

Hester is real good friends with these board members and he has been back stabbing Montgomery ever since just to get the job. Another person behind all of this is a former EMCC board member and now a legislator whose son didn't get protected by Montgomery back 5 years ago. He's had it in for the coach ever since that happened.

I knew all of this to be true "They built a new baseball field last year and the team did not get to have fall practice at all. They played the fall games, but that was all. But what does Hester have to do with all of this? Are you saying he is going to be the next coach?

I highly doubt that Lane is going to leave us to be their hitting coach. Now, he could leave to be thier HC- I could see that.

That would be quite a paycut to leave us for them.

Going from USM to Kansas St. is notexactly a promotion in college baseball. It definitely would be in football or basketball, but not in baseball.

As far as Hester already having it on lock, that's probably just a rumor. Burroughs was an assistant at emcc for one year and is from meridian, along with coaching college ball for the past several years. I've just heard if he wants it, which he does, its his.

Corky and Lane were talking before the game last night on the field and they shared a hug and Corky told him anything he could ever do for him to let him know

Or perhaps, time has now patched things up between them

Hester has already been calling people and asking them to go with him to EMCC. I got this first hand from a guy he talked with. He seems to think he is the next coach at EMCC.

Now is Burroughs is really interested, then he might be their choice in the end. I would certainly hope so.

Hester could then try to pull another coup and run off the baseball coach at Heritage Academy like he did last summer. He and his wife have another 7-9 years in the public school system before they can retire so he will wind up somewhere before it's over. He doesn't really want to move from this area because of the new camphouse he recently built over near Grenada.

that he wanted to stay in the area because of his lawn business.

I could see him trying to get in at Columbus HS. They've been bad forever now. He could probably win there, and get some of New Hope's players to move into the district. Although, Lee Boyd is doing a great job at New Hope. I would not mind my son playing for Boyd at all.

Columbus makes sense because it is a separate school district. Starkville would make sense, but I think Danny Carlisle is still there- I haven't heard if he is or not, and West Point would also make sense. Going the CC route makes sense as well.

Heritage? Maybe. That makes sense as well. Except it's not public. But I do know that Hester has some MAIS exeprience as well, which is why it wouldn't be out of the question.

I could definately see him wanting to go to Community College because he probably thinks that he won't have to deal with meddling parents or board members like he did at New Hope. He can ask Cohen about that, though. There's defintately more prestige at a CC, and probably more money. There is recruiting involved, but much of it is local in Mississippi.

If Hester has the board in his back pocket like he thinks he does, he probably will be their guy.

And he told me that Lane is NOT looking for a job.

Take it for what it's worth, and I do think this is a legit source.

If I'm wrong, dock me an Internet cred point.

I heard it was more of a mutual "a change would be best for all concerned" type of deal, so there weren't any hard feelings. Kansas State is a backwater of college baseball, but Big 12 money > C-USA money for paying baseball assistants.

But this is coming from a pretty direct source having talked to Lane after the JSU loss.

He's already used to that....
