Rumor that Quay could end up at USM...

If that is true, you think he'd be allowed to go there provided he didn't play against MSU in 2015 much in the same way that Anthony Johnson was said to have been allowed to transfer to Jackson State?

At this point, who cares? I had my doubts about both him and James from the beginning. If we get anything out of either of them, I'll just consider that a lucky bonus.

wonder if he has enough drive about himself to sit out a year to do this .... he's already been sitting a while now

Stay optimistic about NJ. He's turning the corner. As for Quay...

I agree. I haven't given up on James and am cautiously optimistic. I wrote Evans off early in this season though.

I said when we signed them that they were both risks, but risks worth taking. And if we bat .500 on them, that's pretty good.

I dont get it. He is smart and a really nice and personable guy. I dont understand the disconnect. It isnt like he is a problem child with a 75 IQ.

Supposedly his biggest issue is he isn't very coachable, maybe too intelligent*

he knows more than the coaches.

Quay will never be the player we hoped at Msu. I think that the coaches (Turner) have moved on and are not counting on him for the future. How can you? I think we have better talent (attitude wise) coming. I wish Quay the best.

he knows more than the coaches.

That doesn't sound like intelligence as much as arrogance possibly from entitlement. But like someone else posted it is odd as he has been very likable off the field from the few times I have met him.

Not directed at you DS just rhetorical.

what will moving to another school solve? If he can't be coached why would it matter who is coaching him? It's not like the reasons are for lack of PT. Everyone knows he has the talent to start, and could really help us in the middle next year. You know with CJ playing (if he plays DT) they'll be double teaming him which leaves the other tackle one on one. Opposing Oline will have to account for Preston Smith as well if he stays.

As an aside, I hear the same things about another 2014 prospective signee from his current coaches. I'll keep the name to myself, but I don't see that one ending well either. We'll see if he rights the ship under D1 coaching I guess.

I doubt it

From everything I read, it appears that he just has zero discipline and drive. These aren't things that are learned very easily.
