Lets play some football.

Edited, for wrong link. http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/NCAA/Resources/Latest+News/2010+news+stories/September+latest+news/Subcommittee+allows+Jeremiah+Masoli+to+compete+immediately

Subcommittee allows Masoli to compete immediately

University of Mississippi football student-athlete Jeremiah Masoli may compete immediately, according to a decision today by the NCAA Division I Subcommittee for Legislative Relief. The subcommittee’s decision overturns the staff decision to grant the graduate student transfer waiver with the condition that Masoli could not compete until the 2011-12 academic year.

According to NCAA rules, created by member schools, football graduate student-athletes must receive a waiver in order to compete if they enroll at a university other than where they received their undergraduate degree.

Every NCAA waiver process includes a staff decision first and an opportunity for the school to appeal that decision to an independent committee. This group is comprised of representatives of NCAA member schools and conferences. Throughout both stages of the waiver process, the case is reviewed and evaluated based on the specific facts of that particular case, as disclosed during the review process. In this case, the staff, subcommittee and school all acknowledged the complexity of the waiver request.

The NCAA staff received the waiver request from Ole Miss on Aug. 13 and received the final piece of information from the school on the evening of Aug. 30. After considering that final piece of information, the NCAA staff issued its decision the morning of Aug. 31. The appeal decision was given three days later.

I believe he still works with the university in a consulting fashion, meaning he steps in and makes the calls to the NCAA to get us out of trouble and get you in trouble.

Maybe a little double standard, but whatever. This is stupid, we all know it, and now it's over. Let them have him, and let them go run through their chump early schedule. This stuff gets old, but I've decided that from this point forward I don't care about the NCAA subcommittee. Their decisions make no sense and there is no longer a point in guessing what they are gonna do.

That is such ********. The initial decision was only "wrong" because it negatively impacted the Ole Miss University. What is embarrassing is to see UM fans and professionals alike bombarding Ronnie Ramos's twitter with juvenile banter and "free Masoli", as if he was part of the decision.

With the events of this week, there's not a more perfect example of a spoiled fanbase whining and bitching until they get their way.

Nice. First post and you don't even have the backbone to leave it up? Nice edit, Reb.

So we have a kid that got penalized and had to sit out an entire year because of something his parents and adults around him did in Sydney...Then they have this fool that has been exploiting people and breaking into businesses and homes for years, then exploits a rule by the NCAA to get around being punished, yet they allow him to play!? It's total BS, the NCAA got this one completely wrong....On one hand, it'll get him out of college football faster! One and done, then possibly won't be heard from again, oh well, didn't really see him making that much of an impact anyway

we still have no ruling on Dee Bost.

Maybe we need to Stansbury to get on ESPN radio and cry.

finding a loophole and the NCAA not being able to close it. This offseason they'll implement some subtitle to the rule that says "whatever disciplinary actions you are facing at your old school will follow you" or something like that.

Oh well, we'll see if a 5'10 QB can finally do something in the SEC and we'll get to see how a PAC10 stud looks against SEC Ds for a year.

The ESPN guys all said the NCAA got it right, we'll see what they say now.
