Im not going to say he isn't leaving Oxford, but someone is going to have to pay him $15M /year to get him to leave....two years ago, all he had was a daughter who was a freshman at UM...now his whole family is here....my kids run in the same circles as his kids, and IMO, he isn't leaving oxford any time soon.

And I believe Napier is done whether MSU wins, or UF wins....wouldnt be surprised if Franklin ended up at UF
This may actually turn out to be a great year for PSU to fire Franklin, because there are going to be so many jobs open that if he doesn't land in a decent job with a good salary, they'll have a decent argument that he didn't comply with his duty to mitigate. Not sure how hard that is to win in court though.

Another domino that could fall and really make things interesting is if LSU goes into a tailspin. Not necessarily likely, but within the realm of possibility.

Probably a PR tactic to leak it so that’s it not such a surprise when it does go down.

Plenty if Kiffen to UF smoke too.

That's a very real possibility. Their next 3 games are at Vandy, A&M and at Alabama; then they close the season at Oklahoma.

more smoke coming out...

That article doesn't sound good for Stricklin at all. Boosters were ready to pay Napier's buyout last year, but Stricklin convinced them to spend that money on NIL, with the understanding Napier would hire an OC.

Allegedly.

The boosters can't complain about spending money on NIL, but Napier didnt hire an OC and their team isn't any better.

I know Stricklin just got an extension, but there is an old saying that an AD should never be given a third chance to hire a head coach. That was in the days before instant gratification, though.

Still, I wonder what Stricklin's buyout is?

One thing’s certain: Marcus Freeman is going to be a wealthy man in a couple of months. My gut says he stays put, but a bidding war with ND, PSU and I guess Florida means a good time for his agent. Wonder when Auburn is going to join the party?

Kiffin too, of course, but he’s already making plenty.
They never make enough, at least in their own eyes.

0-14 against ranked opponents away from the Swamp less than halfway through year 4 is a pretty crazy stat. So basically 4 away games a year against ranked opponents. How many teams outside of the SEC even play 4 ranked teams a year, much less 4 on the road plus however many at home.

The timing of the Napier ouster rumors reaching a fever pitch relative to the James Franklin news is interesting to say the least.

Florida may already have their man. Very hard to see why they’d pull the trigger now as opposed to last Sunday or next Sunday if they didn’t.

If Kiffin really wanted to flex he would ask for a pay bump then get the UM boosters to leverage all they have for NIL and raid some of these rosters as their coaches are fired. He already has a good team, and his ego could lead him to believing he could win big over the next 1-2 years and prove how good of a coach he is by winning at a school where no one else has done it.

I bet they don’t have their man. And pretty good chance they screw up this next hire too.

I mean maybe they do, maybe they don’t. But Franklin suddenly becoming available just 2 days before these leaks start happening doesn’t seem like a coincidence. And there’s no logical reason at all to suddenly make this move right now besides that. UF brass don’t have to be logical, of course.

Franklin is the biggest available name in the coaching carousel in years….if he’s not content to sit on his asś and collect buyout money (which he might be). And yes, he’s a much bigger name and a much more sure thing than Kiffin.

Also, I think he has to take a job to collect his buyout (reduced by his new job salary).

I think it was quoted that he “has to pursue another job”. No idea what that means, or how its measured. But he can’t make somebody hire him at gunpoint. He could, of course, pull an Arnett at the nearest Arby’s if he ended up getting hired against his wishes.

All the cool kids are firing their coaches mid-season now. Florida has a bye week coming up, so if they want to be like the cool kids then this is the best time to pull the trigger.

I still don't see the advantage of mid season firings, but everyone is doing it. I guess it makes the boosters happy....kinda sucks for the players, though.
