RU91,from age 17 to about 29,I ran eight miles three times a week year round except the first couple weeks of January.Nothing wrong with running in a basketball jersey. I ran in all kinds of tops so I am sure I just have at some point.I had a UNC jersey so I probably ran some in it.Not to get gross, but I used to sweat like a pig in anything.Basically,I would run into the house to the shower and put my clothing in a toxic waste bag until washing.

I just saw this from many months ago. Thanks for the recommendation, and I hear you about the sweat. The reason I am looking for a running singlet (a Rutgers one) centers around that sweat and long runs (think 10-26 miles). Basketball jerseys have more material than running tops. Heavier tops will retain more sweat and get heavier on the shoulders and chest. Heavier tops on longer runs cause nipple chafing and even worse....blood. Unless one has titanium nipples, the lighter, the better for distance. For y'all that think I'm jesting, Google "marathon bloody nipples" and take a gander at the pictures. Not only does it look painful, it IS painful. I never had bloody ones, but after a 10 miler in the rain, a heavy running singlet makes things very irritated for days. Thanks again Heaven.
