It’s a shame that Rutgers has to ask fans to pry themselves away from their tailgating to be in the stadium long before kickoff.
Do not allow tailgating until after the game. Then you either Eat well to celebrate or drink to drown sorrows.I would prefer to gorge.

Rutgers fans on this site do not like to be told how to spend their money or to be in their seats so we don’t look like a small time fanbase. Dollar hot dogs and bottled water will have the frugal one’s in stadium and not in the cheap lot.

Between the food and beverages, the herb, the card games, the catching up with friends, and the music I play it's always a struggle to get the group to stop tailgating and actually start moving towards the stadium and the actual football game.
Frankly, most of them are there for the tailgating more than the football game. I'm not sure if a fireworks display will do the trick.

I get it but not to call them out- but if the screw's can get their tailgate finished and people into the stadium, anyone can do it. OK- maybe everyone is afraid of @MrsScrew lol

Agreed. I was blown away down at VT that almost all 66,000 fans were in the stands for the anthem, long before the team came into the field.
And they SANG the ONE national anthem. Sitting three rows from the top at mid-field, it was amazing.

Big credit to all fans being in there early and the students for just being completely full...

Looks like our first true sellout in years

Crowd looks great from team coming out of the tunnel and all throughout. College atmosphere for sure- just looks insane from TV. Wish I was there

Not to be downer. But was definitely not a true sellout. Corner sections were empty. Still giving away too many tickets..

I’ve said a win tonight and that’s when bandwagoners will jump on. I expect a “true sellout” next home game..especially with another win vs Nebraska

Unless looking for a hole in the crowd, there isn’t anyone in the country looking at that crowd and not thinking it was a sellout.
Crowd did a great job

Crowd was phenomenal. But even the announcers when discussing the sellout mentioned empty sections in the upper deck..though they blamed the rained.

Crowd was solid on TV and loud. Kudos to them! I'm sure rain did not help if any parts were empty.

What was supposed to happen at 730, and why didn't it happen? More to the point why was there absolutely No acknowledgement of it? Stadium was definitely empty at 730 - be that because the traffic, rain or people tailgating - who knows? RU Promo team wasn't speaking to 1 person to get there early they were speaking to the whole fanbase. To not do anything and just gloss over it is not acceptable. I just don't understand the PR approach on this at all - I can tell you it definitely rubbed me the wrong way, and I'm not the only one. Complete Failure!

Yeah, took some bargaining to just get to the game, lol, but thanks. Will also be driving back down to OC after the game. Let's hope we both enjoy the game!
Left well after the Alma mater and made it home by 1:40

That was late in the game. Also, big secret…even a little rain and those people in the ****** seats find their way to watching from the concourse
And if it is only a couple of empty spots in the real ****** seats, that is still as good as it gets.

7:30 thing was bs and Newman is full of it. Band show at halftime was good. Crowd was great. Overall a great night. Did I mention Newman was full of it? Now I know why Jerry had a problem with him.

That was one thing that no one was talking about the next day, with all the other awesome in-game production that went on. "The worst player on the all-star team" if you will.

Yup, really. Other stuff was better. Are you telling me the hype in that tweet was met? More people will remember the band’s performance and Believe drone show as the years go on.
How did my thread title get edited after Newman posted his tweet? By a moderator???

I missed it. But that looked cool. Would not have been disappointed if I went in at 7:30.

ETA in my defense, I was going to go in early but my tailgate got started later due to an unexpected tee time at Baltusrol.

So, it's about comparative hype and not any hype?
IMO, we had not done something like that at kickoff in a long time. And the team entrance got a lot of positive vibes on social media. Think you guys are picking nits and unnecessarily taking shots at Jon. The people in our section really liked the lead up to the entrance and the Aerosmith tune with the phone lights.

Anyone bitching about the game experience Friday nite needs help for manic depression
That's overstating things a bit, no? No human endeavor is ever perfect and raising awareness of imperfections is neither manic nor evidence of depression.

Also left after the Alma Mater, taking my favorite short cut from the upper deck to out of the stadium, getting out quickly and since I had arrived at 7 pm, I was parked right at the yellow lot exit so zero wait there. Took me an extra 20 min to get back to OCNJ because I had to drop our friends off in Metuchen. I was even in the stadium by about 7:25 pm and as I mentioned in another thread, I thoroughly enjoyed the pre-game and all of the in-game festivities (maybe the best ever for RU), even including the band at halftime, which I rarely watch - crowd was electric - such a great win.

I said it was good. Just can’t stand unnecessary hype that’s all. Band and Believe still better. End of subject.

overall the production was outstanding... maybe a few missed items if you want to be nit pick... ... i thought the lighted up cheerleaders should have been at midfield and have them multiple times if the goal was to make the stadium dark for phone lights, maybe darken the scoreboard banners in both end zones....could have used the red lights a ittle more...
