Julie is a winner. I've been convinced of that ever since I met her. I would trust her judgement to decide whether we are best off with Coach Flood or should seek a replacement.
Personally, I think Kyle Flood is the right coach for Rutgers. He's a working class guy who has the courage to test the limits of the ankle biter's envelope.

That's good news. This is our 2nd year in the B10 and that first year I'd expect a surge in fundraising and for it to provide a sort of baseline. To continue to build on that baseline is crucial and I'm glad so far it looks like we have. I hope it continues further.
good results. I see a lot of positive things happening. The game day experience is improving. From parking lot staff to exiting the lots after the game a lot of good stuff.

How much of the 17 % fundraising increase is due to higher ticket prices, additional premium fees for preferred seating, increased parking fees, etc paid for by our FB season ticket base ?
Honestly, without a link I'm 17% more confused how someone came up with this number and what the breakdown of the actual increase is.
And why isn't our AD coming out of her office to announce this increase to the public and trying to generate positive PR for RU Athletics ?
Not sure how much credit can be given to Julie Hermann for the entire university's fundraising results.

It's not the entire university it's the athletic department. It's on the twitter of some of our local reporters. SB reported it to the athletics chair on the BOG, Ken Schmidt.

Not bad considering RU gets a lot of negative spin from the local rag and its onlie partner that puts out articles that are spun to make RU look bad , which probable hurts donations .

The athletic director doesn't need to be the face of the athletic department and frankly shouldn't be. The coaches namely the football and MBB coaches are the faces of the athletic department. Generally, the only time an athletic director makes an appearance to the media is for hiring of coaches. I don't need to see their faces. Most could probably only name a handful of athletic directors across the country. I actually do follow this kind of stuff and even I couldn't tell you all of the names. Their jobs should be mostly behind the scenes.

Your comments here are way off base.
First, the seating fees did not increase from 2014 to 2015. But even if the increase came from such fees, that would still be good news for Rutgers.
That said, it is almost certainly that "higher ticket prices, additional premium fees for preferred seating, increased parking fees, etc paid for by our FB season ticket base" (your words) have nothing to do with the increase. Those donations would have been counted in the last fiscal year, which ended June 30. The year is only a few months in (July 1 to October 14), and a very small amount of the donations up to this point would be based on seating.
Ticket sales are separate than "fundraising."
Finally, at the end of the year, the AD puts out a glossy brochure and other publications (such as on their website) explaining how fundraising went compared to previous years. I'm not sure what you mean when you say increases aren't announced. They are announced, formally, at the end of the year. And in this instance, a figure for a partial year was announced at a BOG meeting as part of the Athletic Department's role in keeping the BOG informed of their progress. Not sure why anyone would take issue with that.
Given all of this, it is hard to imagine anyone looking at this as anything other than a positive for Rutgers, with credit to its athletic department, including the person who heads that group.

whether extra donations for parking are factored in, I don't give a ****. Ticket revenue isn't factored in assuredly. The fact is the schools is raising more money than they did before. Whatever method they are using is working. That's the bottom line here. You can be a Debbie downer and try to downplay because Julie pissed in your cornflakes but everyone knows your schtick already
It's up 17% compared to this point last year according to Sargeant's tweet.. I don't think it takes into account the full fiscal year. The 18% you're referring to seems more like a year over year comparison. The 17% might be more a quarter over quarter comparison.
Im curious whats factored in. I would like to add that we need undesignated donations to come into the athletic department and curious how JH has been doing with that.
What do you want them to release? A P/L for you to review? Their account statements?
Your implication is that either the BOG is lying, or that the Ath. Dept. is lying to the BOG. I would suggest that you have no basis at all to make such a suggestion.
Exactly. The information specifically says "at this point last year." Meaning, at this point in FY 2016, there is a 17% increase compared to this point in FY 2015.
I believe that it is also true that they previously stated that the full year's worth of fundraising in FY 2015 was up over the complete year of FY 2014.

17% increase is great but it's not hard to figure out what's driving this. Required seat donations and parking cutoffs. And BIG10 exposure.
Wake me up when Julie raises anything substantial towards facilities. I'm not bashing her but it's been over two years, it's time for her to really make her mark.

Good news then. Still waiting for some substantial donations towards facilities before I get really excited. Took a long time to raise the $ for the baseball facility. Not holding my breath over the basketball plans.
You can say that for the first year in the B10 which is why I say you take that first year as sort of a baseline. The surge from exposure and what not have been largely had in the first year. To continue to build on that in the 2nd year and beyond is crucial and this is a positive sign.
As far as raising anything substantial for facilities you may be Rip Van Winkle. Where have we shown in our history of raising anything substantial for facilities. That's a big boulder to push up the hill for us. If she can ever do that, I've said I'd let her miss on a few hires even, that's how significant it would be to raise that amount of money given our fundraising history. We've seen a small sign with the 3M baseball facility, our first athletic structure since the 80s, that's set to break ground on Oct. 24th. It's just a small step though and obviously we need much more.
I expect the facilities to eventually be paid with a combination of athletic revenue bonds and private donations. You'll still most likely need donations totaling in the 10s of millions of dollars to combine with those bonds to get the project done. If she can get that done it would be a HUGE accomplishment for her and SB considering our lackluster history of fundraising. Hopefully she can.

Your overall point is well taken. The progress made so far is necessary but only a very small step in the right direction.
Some are going to say what they're going to say, what can you do. I've always said this kind of lifting of the entire athletic department is a long haul task. It doesn't get done over night and while the B10 money will be extremely helpful it's not a bottomless pot of gold. Fundraising is going to be key as well and expanding the pool of donors is important. I believe we had a record number of donors last year. I hope we can build on that as well.
If we're lucky maybe we get that big donation but I've said before I look for the small sign here small sign there a little thing here, a little thing there to see if things are moving in the right direction. I've pointed them out before. You take all these small things and you see things are slowly improving and hopefully in time these small things lead to bigger things in lifting up the entire athletic department. Jurich took a decade plus to get Louisville up to where it is and it's going to take us a while too. The B10 is great but it's not some magic wand that suddenly makes all our ills of the last few decades disappear. It's going to take some time but if I continue to see these small signs here and there I feel good that we're moving along in the right direction.

this is true...fundraising has always been dreadful at Rutgers, so here is some good news that its gone up and yet we have a few who just want to go out of their way to discredit....that's the problem with some alums of this school, too cynical for their own good

This is great news! Let's move Julie full time to fundraising and let someone who knows what they are doing in Non-Olympic sports take over as the AD. If Julie wants to be over the Olympic Sports like at UofL, I'm ok with that. But let's take her away from overseeing money generating sports because those are not fundraising, those are revenues. Let her work her magic full time fundraising. She's best at that.
Not sure what I said was bull. I'm not bashing her or our previous AD's (as some in this thread are). It's funny and evident the agendas some people have. Some posters will ***** about parking cutoff increases and then use this news to go goo goo gaa gaa over the AD. Can't have it both ways.
I'm just not gonna get all riled up and excited until we see some substantial donations come through. Rutgers has had a history of poor fundraising I get it. But no AD has ever had the opportunity and exposure to change the landscape like Hermann has. She's over 2 years into her tenure I'll give her a couple more years at which point I hope we smash these 17% increases. If we're serious about be a contender that's what it's going to have to take.
