If Rutgers is willing to pay $2M-$4M for new Coach, then why is it taking so long? I get the whole vetting process, interviews, candidates schedule, short list, blah blah blah blah.... Why is it not possible to have a new coach by Monday? What are the obsticles? If all these great coaches believe in themselves and skill sets, why would they be scared to go up against the Ohio State, Michigan State or even Michigan? What was that quote from that baseball movie? "if you build it, they will come" Well it all starts with the right coach. Make it happen already.

Do not lose patience. Who says RU will not have a coach by Monday? It is only Friday. Hobbs has only officially been on the job since Sunday. And if it lasts until Tuesday or Wednesday, but is the right choice, who really cares?

Truth be told, if you actually "get" the vetting, due diligence, interview and candidate schedule process, then you would know that it is not actually taking that long at all.

RU is the ONLY college team searching for a coach that put into place a new Athletic Director at the same time they are replacing their football coach. That might add a layer of time.

Jesus. Teams are still playing games this weekend. Let the process run its course. It's gives the surprises like the UVA hire to come to fruition.

First of all, this REALLY has not been that long.

Second, for all we know we COULD have a coach by Monday. We may be looking at someone who is playing this weekend or we may be conducting several interviews to choose the right man for the job. There are plenty of reasons to do this methodically and only one to rush it--because fans like you are antsy. Think you need to deal with that on your own.

You're grossly oversimplifying too (suggesting that if a coach doesn't want to face the murderers row of the B1G East he must be scared) but it's not worth spending much time on your post.

They should take as much time as needed to get the right guy. Hire the wrong guy and it's another three to four years wasted.

Thank you for reporting the going rate of power 5 coaches. The only coaches that make less 2 million are Indiana, Illinois and whatever Syracuse is trying to lowball their next coach.

I don't think you understand the amount of work it takes to hire a new coach. Some of the other schools have been working on it for weeks.

$2 - $4 million is a nice chunk of change. I am going to believe that if it's at the top end they are going after a proven big name. One can hope!

Nobody knows who is the right guy until they have faced B1G competition and show that they can successfully compete.

Might want to check that. They hired their interim Coach Helton full time.
OK, two problems here. First, although Miami did hire Richt, it took them a hell of a long time to hire anybody. That is the point here. Other schools have been being deliberate. Second USCe is South Carolina.

Absolutely. But take the time to check out all the candidates and make an informed decision. No need to rush because some of the fans are getting antsy.

I respectfully question these figures. If Hobbs was given that budget there would be a line outside his door loaded with the who's who of the coaching world. However if it is true that we can offer 3 million please bring in Rodriguez or Kiffin. we would undoubtedly become big time over knight!!!

Miami hired Richt 70 hours after he was fired.

Yea, but they interviewed a number of people before that. Obviously when he became available their calculus shifted.

We've been at this for a week.

I think he has a budget that big...it just depends on who they are looking at...the budget for Mullen would a lot different than Rhule, Crista, GS, etc.
