From replies on that tweet (or is it Xeet now?)
GG has slidden down to #64 on one list I saw.
I’m too old to pay close attention to the false precision implied by lists. I think GG is still considered one of the top 5 shooters in the class for sure. If I had to find a weakness with him I would say he has non-elite lateral quickness. If he can adapt and become an elite passer (e.g. to Cliff for layups and dunks) he’ll be an elite player in the BigTen. He may not be built to back down smaller players in the paint ala Paul M) but he can figure out another way.I don't follow recruiting extensively.
Rivals has him #23 and 3rd highest recruit in the Big Ten.
Is that not the most reliable list?
If not, then who is?
Care to handicap the odd of him being one and done?
I think your phrase about his “figuring it out” is on point. I think the figuring will happen quickly. Seems like a gym rat with a chip on his shoulder.I’m too old to pay close attention to the false precision implied by lists. I’m not being a smartass. I’m rooting for his long term success, because he seems like a good kid that RU is lucky to have. The only odds (or chances) I've seen posted here regarding that are zero.
I'll go with greater than zero.
I thought this year was the Final Four run and then next year the Natty.Unless he scores 20 a game and hits 45% from 3 , he will be around for his sophomore year and our Final Four run. If he is only getting second round grades at the end of next year, he will be smart enough to know the exposure for 2024 could likely vault him into the first round discussion . Duncan Robinson comes to mind but Gavin has a much better handle than Robinson did at Michigan. It was only after 3 years in Miami that he finally drove the ball to the hoop.
GG should shoot something like 45% from 3 in ‘24-25.Won't his usage and other numbers go down considerably playing alongside two one-and-done Freshmen trying to be lottery picks? And with potentially other FR in the rotation? and few veterans.
Bringing back the archaic usage of "slidden." Nice...GG has slidden down to #64 on one list I saw.
His efficiency should go up, and with Cliff gone, his usage may not go down that much.Won't his usage and other numbers go down considerably playing alongside two one-and-done Freshmen trying to be lottery picks? And with potentially other FR in the rotation? and few veterans.
Trade a bunch of veterans for a bunch of Freshmen, at least two of them trying to be one and done… ball dominant guys too
