We also don’t know the VT situations. On the surface, it would look like Peterson, Clark, and Soldano all “ducked” their opponents.

All 6 in Qtrs. Unfortunately Fongaro gets Bartlett, Soldano has Ryder, if White wins he gets Messenbrink. Cetta and Clark are bottom 1/2 need to get by Pierce and would have Van Ness. SCW probably also gets Ryder if Soldano loses or they wrestle each other

Fongaro hanging tough with Barlett so far. Has been very tough defensively and trails 1-0 after 2. Will start on bottom in the 3rd.

Hell-of-a good showing by Fongaro.
Clark vs Cetta in semi's
White beat Donny's guy 4-3, next gets murgatroided by Mesenbrink
Walsh doing very well. Soldano now down by one in second period

Soldano looks cooked. He has zero ability to generate any reliable offensive anynore. Never even got close to really scoring.

Doesnt seem to be wrestling with any fire or sense of urgency. If he cannot find a way to do some funky move there is really nothing else there.

Good news 4 in Semis - Cetta, Clark, White and SCW

Will be interesting to see how SCW does comparatively vs Ryder.

Soldano was a blue chipper also. Top 20 p4p and 3x champ. Sick of excuses for these guys.
I agree, Soldano was top 10 p4p, #9 I believe.. I don’t put as much stock in # of state championships but top 10 p4p class recruit ranking is huge.

Soldano was looking all that ranking n more up until his Munoz match.. I remember everyone thinking he was going to be the next “him”. After that loss idk what happened.. ppl kept saying he’s freshman cut him slack etc he will improve def etc.. somewhere after his freshman season he stopped trying to develop his game, lost that hunger it seems of trying to be the best.. having fun out there idk….its a tough sport.

Soldano was #2 seed, Ryder #7. Walsh #3. Walsh/Ryder match should be telling.
Ryder is only the #7 seed because he's a true freshman... Didn't wrestle his Senior year in HS and trained with David Taylor last year after winning 4 NY titles (Won 1st in 8th grade) ..He was a Silver Medalist at World Championships U20 in 2024 and a 3x World medalist already...His #7 is deceiving

Like stated before the 184lb Semi between Walsh and Ryder will be very interesting

Clark over Cetta 2-1.....No takedowns in first each escaped in 2nd and 3rd...no takedown in ot clark rode Cetta in first 30 second, Cetta let Clark start neutral so 2-0 Clark, stall pt Cetta 2-1 final. Match really did not show one better than the other. Midlands probably will be final showing for each to determine starter.

Is it that Wisconsin sucks this year or Rider just got better?
Wisconsin is 0-2 with losses to Ohio and now Rider. When I saw the Ohio loss I went to see who was on the Wisconsin roster. The only guys I recognized were Braxton Amos, Nic Colucci, and Joe Zargo. They have nobody. Bono should be fired at this point.

I would also say that Rider has a more talented roster than Wisconsin and probably deserved to win. I'll have to see if I can find the replay.

149 and 184. Do not think anything was settled after today at both weights.

149-no common opponents and while Clark won head to head, no offensive points were scored. Neither had a "good" win, Cetta did have bad loss in 3rd place match. That kid is 22-21 going into today(including 8-16 last season). I would think they will still alternate and both go at Midlands. If neither has any notable wins going forward, you probably have to go head to head to decide(although the quote from an Iowa coach I agree with "I am not coaching and training you to beat the guy in the room at your weight, I am training you to beat the other 32 guys in your bracket at NCAA's"

184-Both lost to Ryder pretty much the same score and type of match. They both beat the Army kid-SCW-9-2, Soldano 9-5. Soldano had two falls on the backside along with the 9-5 win(he could not go for 3rd, so got 5th.). SCW lost in the 3rd place match to the Mich State kid Daly who is a first year starter(ranked 78th via Wrestle stat and with a career record of 31-26).

He still has eligibility??? What is he... like 38 years old? No loss with him. He was below average at best.It was so aggravating watching him cheer for himself when he beat a better than 500 wrestler. He used to celebrate like won his blood round at the NCAA tournament.Bono is still there? He, Sammi Henson and Coleman Scott are the kings of flight risks as coaches.Im surprised he stayed so long.He is a classic example of great wrestler/**** coach.Must of burned every bridge in the HC, assistant coaching world.Thats why he probably had to stay there.

You might be thinking of his older brother Christian who was the Hwt starter at RU for a few years after transferring from Lehigh after 2-3 years there. Nico is the one at Wisc., I think he started at Hwt his frosh year for about half the season and then his remaining years he was a backup at 197. He is a grad student at Wisc going 197.

This.... Nic Colucci only wrestled one varsity match at last dual last season....

149 and 184 isn’t settled but I think we got some slight favorites rn.. probably won’t be settled until after midlands…

-Clark got slightly better overall body of work, takes fewer bad losses, and won the h2h.. he has to have slight edge for the weight but I agree the door is still open.

-I’d like to think Walsh got the edge for 184.. he took Ryder into OT and loss a last second takedown.. on a side note if Ryder is a stud, as projected, this was a good showing from Walsh+ Soldano.

Agree slight edge for Clark....still think 184 is closer. Walsh did not go to Overtime, he lost on a last second TD in regulation. He then had a bad loss in the 3rd place match.

Oh idk on flo it reported it as SV

“184 Zack Ryder State College, PA (Penn State) DEC Shane Cartegena-walsh ocean, NJ (Rutgers), 4-1 SV”

True Soldano had the big win on Ruth, Walsh on Stewart, and they both took bad losses

The takedown definitely came with about :03 to go. It didn't go OT I was watching it live

Okie State just absolutely demolished VT 34-9 and 6 of VTs points were on a very quick fall call in neutral. They are loaded.

I think okie state is true #2 team rn.. a dual w them and Iowa would be very close..

-Harer’s loss to Hipolito doesn’t look as bad now.. that kid has been a highlight reel for VT.

-Hamiti w 2nd period TF over #4 Wolak, who pinned Turley, that’s just scary….

-Not sure if Stewart loss his starting job but Walsh’s win over him looks a little less impressive now..

Hamiti is no joke.He is my pick to win it all this year.Crazy scrambler and can pin you at any moment.Huge gas tank too.Its going to be interesting to see what DT does with that team. I would love to see him dethrone Slingblade. I can't stand that cougar growl they sound off every time one of their wrestlers wins.On a side note.I am hoping the heavyweight Hendrickson gets to the finals. Arguably a National Champion type but has two major studs in his way in Steveson and Kerkliviet.

No chance in the world Hamiti beats both Otoole and Haines which he'll have to do. Doubt he beats either.

Regular season Hamiti > post season Hamiti

We'll see what impact DT has on Hamiti, but up until this point you are correct.
