Where did you hear this? And I hope we are just going to ignore it. If you sit down to analyze the inspiration for every video/song we have, we'd have nothing left. One can argue that the weapon of mass destruction (for its time) that we fire off after every point is the glorification of senseless murder and is not in the best interests of the gentlemanly sport we all love. I hope Rutgers recognizes the art and spirit of that video and doesn't bow to political pressure.
My post was about the "NFL' music when we show Knights in the NFL because someone asked why we do not play that anymore..

The song & video were awesome & a great addition. The song is an EDM song called The Hum by Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike & Ummet Ozcan. Here's the NSFW music video for it, which is an epic video with Charlie Sheen & Jean-Claude Van Damme:

I'd like to see Rutgers post our full video like they did with the Scarlet Knight riding into the stadium.

Like the actual song and video - reminds me of what the Hangover party scene might've been like if they actually showed it. Funny cameos, too, especially by Sheen. Well done.

That one goes way back
Your post reminded me of another knight/gladiator scene. It's a little long (4 minutes plus) but classic.

Sorry my mistake, I misread your note. I had thought the NFL came down on the thump video assuming they didn't like the association with the movie. Do you know who created that video or how the idea surfaced? Rutgers is really doing a fantastic job with branding, media content, graphics and promotions. It's all very well integrated from the look of the uniforms, to the tweets and videos, to the facility make overs, and music/game day atmosphere. Maybe one of our student reporters might want to write about it from a sales/marketing perspective. While some might not like the branding image, they are doing a text book job in my opinion.

Geoff Brown is in charge of all of this. I sent him a note on Sunday linking this thread and telling him I thought the video was something that could really catch on. Geoff is real good hire for RU. He walks around the tailgates to get feedback and see what can get better. But he is also really good about telling the limitations RU has.
He is the one that took care of the police ATV driving through the tailgates.

Love the chest thumping. I posted this on another thread a bit back but I'd to rip off the Napoli Higuain chant. I think you could plug Leonte Carroo in pretty nicely

Forget bowing down to political pressure, my guess is the NFL told them to stopping playing the music or they were going to sue.

I always thought we should supplement our R-U chant with an Upstream-Redteam chant.

Reminds me of the party in the Project X movie (same producer as Hangover).

West Virginia has actually been doing something similar all year. They created a video mash-up of players dancing around (for lack of a better explanation) and the clips from Wolf of Wall Street. They play it just before the start of the game, leading into kickoff. They also use it in-game, and show a live shot of a former player on the field mimicking the chest thump, as well as some fans doing it.

Certainly creative, but Rutgers isn't the first school to use it. They did do a better job of incorporating the players into it, though.

I brought up the idea, here, first couple days of September in some thread about Yoshi/in-game music. Decided to send an email about it to my good buddy Mike Melendez, over in athletic development, who instantly loved the idea and forwarded it to Geoff Brown and the in-house production team. I honestly had no idea that was coming, Saturday night, I was fully expecting the Rutgers version of "turbulence," after "Rutgers-Struck," but much to my surprise the "Hmmm..." remix came on and the place with nuts. I loved it and loved, even more, that we played it several more times during the game!!

Great job Nuts!

I know you've worked closely with the department over the years to suggest and funnel through many great ideas.

Kudos!

Eh, I just had the initial idea, but can take zero credit for anything else. What these guys did with it, WOW, impressive!

speaking of your friend Mike. He sent me an email a couple of days ago confirming what I thought I saw. That the 2 flags being flown over the south EZ are now a bit larger than the smaller one's previously being used... (my cause from last year)....now I am on to a concept to spiff up the area around where the canon is placed on field. They seem out of place just sitting there. Just hanging a couple of historic revolutionary flags off the walls behind them to provide for just a bit more context and contrast to the blank painted red wall. Something I am willing to fund and present if they are interested. I've already mocked-up a picture of them with a 1776 Flag Behind them and I think looks pretty good.

Great suggestion Ringoes. Well done.

This staff is really open to listening to suggestions, ideas, etc. And they have a pretty good record of getting stuff actually implemented.

Geoff has been waiting for Nuts to take credit all week since he sent over the idea in September. Great job Nuts. He let me know that they have been waiting for the right game to roll it out.

Ha! I didn't even realize there was a thread (between my new business, moving out and into a new place, and discovering the wonders of "tinder" and whatnot, I've been off the boards since Sat morning...) until Mike text me this morning and "nudged" me a bit to get involved with this thread lol!

Anyway, thanks!

Great job Nuts and great job RU taking an outstanding suggestion and making a very impressive video. One way to judge the impact was how quickly people in the stands were all over it. People in my section were pounding their chests almost immediately. The student also seemed to love it.

I saw folks near me doing it and I must have COMPLETELY missed it. Geez. I certainly agree. Way cool , great job by NUTS and the staff to go with it. They don't have to do stuff. But it is great they will listen and consider.

BTW - not sure if mentioned here earlier, or not, but the "hmmmm" chest thump is something McConaughey does, to relax prior to filming a scene, ala meditation. Well, when they couldn't get that scene with him and Leo at lunch early in the movie, correct, MM kept doing it and they decided to incorporate it into that scene which, obviously, led it to being written into the scene at the office!

I always liked when the cannon was up on the hill. It does really seem out of place on the field. But we have so much room in that end zone might as well utilize the space somehow. Maybe if we ever rework the stands on that end of the field we would move the cannon. I'd like to see the cannon near its old place up above the student section where the hill used to be.

yeah it was perfect perched up there. it had the tree, they had the white tent, they had the flag on the pole. Plus it also fit well into the whole history of the support it provided from the "heights" ...IIRC..covered Washington's movement from New Brunswick or something like that.

if you go to West Point, the cadets fire howitzers from behind the stadium over the lake...canon fire should be in support from behind, right. :)

now it is there sitting on a couple of car ramps and a bank teller waiting line on each side.

BUT...I am just glad it is still in use...not a bad solution for now. Just need to dress it up a bit.

Can we get the video up on Rvision or youtube and one of you guys post that puppy up for everyone to see. I think this is something many Rutgers fans who can't get to a game would enjoy.

Does anyone have a legit video of the crowd doing this "Wolf of Wall Street" chest pounding chant? I want to actually see the fans reactions and all that.

Also, if you happen to have the video tape on your cell phone please kindly take the time to do a good deed for the RU fan community and post it to the forum. As a long time RU fan and alumni I LOVE when the stadium comes together and starts stadium wide chants such as the famous RU as well as all of the other traditions such as the 3rd down chant with the heavy guitar blaring over the loudspeakers.

This "Wolf of Wall Street" video and corresponding chant is yet another sign of Rutgers creativity that I believe that Julie Hermann and the Athletics Department are doing a good job of tapping into ,but should try to continue to do so even more of. Rutgers was one of the first colleges to be established in the United States and is also the BIRTHPLACE of college football. There are plenty of very intelligent students, alumni, and just general supporters who love Rutgers and want to see Rutgers football succeed. They want to also increase the "fan experience" so we can not only just be a great place to watch a game, but to make us the BEST stadium to come and watch a game and get all of the excitement, emotions, and intensity that you just can't explain unless you have experienced it. The athletic department is BOUND to be able to find a lot of exciting and creative ideas to continue the new "creative" streak that is making Rutgers one of the most exciting and fun places to come watch a football game. (i.e this new Wolf of Wall Street chest thump chant from last week's Blackout Game)

And before people go crazy, relax, I am not saying that it is as technically as loud as say a 100,000 stadium, BUT I would argue that it is possibly more ELECTRIC AND INTENSE than most other stadiums regardless of their overall capacity. During the Michigan Blackout game last year, I LEGIT got goosebumps on at least 5 different occasions that I can remember and that means there was probably 5-10 other times that I didn't even notice or remember because everyone was going so crazy and the moment was so intense that getting goosebumps were just normal at that point HAHA

its an outdoor RAC. Seriously. Neither facility is the biggest but when Jersey Loud gets going we can be as intense and intimidating as anybody's place. Jersey and Intense...ha. Who would have thought?! :boxing:
