Nothing against octogenarians, but there are some things I would just prefer they not do, like fly a plane. I mean, I consider it impressive when an 80 year old drives himself to the grocery store. No doubt some are sharper than others, my grandfather was sharp as a tack well into his 80's, but I still think this was a little negligent.

I'm no expert, but I remember a guy in college who had what seemed to me to be a REALLY old Cessna. He said, though, that planes are different than cars, and it's nothing to be flying a plane that is forty or fifty years old.

He may have just been BSing, I don't know.

But the reports are saying that they think they lost power and that the pilot got disoriented using what instruments he had left - that seems to be just the type of thing you would want a younger pilot for.<div>
</div><div>That said, it might be the case that no fault at all will be allocated to the pilot and that is fine, but I still think it is questionable judgment for someone that old to be piloting recruiting trips for the university. </div>

and you can buy them all day for around 40K . That just made me think there couldn`t be much to it. Again I don`t know. Just struck me as odd that although the pilot was a bigtime OSU booster and experienced pilot that a 500K per year coach would take a little more precaution in how he traveled. As you can probably tell it`s not a real busy day for me.
