Sadly this probably won't even be an issue in the mayor's race

It's just pathetic. And I won't be the least bit surprised if ChokeChain is re-elected and serves from the Federal pen.

This has to be the only state capital in the country that can't get the basics done to even receive a bond rating.

It’s one thing to have that much debt and actually have something of value. Unfortunately, there is a ton of debt and not much to show for it.
Assuming that everything was gravy, I was told that Jackson has a fundamental revenue flaw. Too many government (city, county, state, federal) buildings downtown for such a small capital city. All the prime real estate is closed outside the hours of M-F 8-5, so everything is just dead and no business can survive.

Of course, everything isn’t gravy, so there are many other problems working against the city. .

Where does this rank with a State accidentally accelerating eliminating the income tax? Because honestly that’s hilarious.
Jackson should probably drastically raise taxes on the people paying them. I mean if they haven’t already left, they ain’t leaving.

What makes it worse, if they did get a new steady flow of revenue they would waste it. They would not use the money to correct everything that is wrong with the city. It is doomed.

Also, I want to know who did the planning for all the road work on the interstate. They got both North and South I-55 down to two lanes from the stack to Fortification Street. Try going through there during rush hour. I work in North Jackson but live in Brandon. So I started taking I-220 to I-20 to miss the traffic. Last week the genius who made the decision decided to do road work on I-20 East. Right where I-55 joins I-20 to the stack they are doing road work narrowing the road from four lanes to two lanes. It is a nightmare trying to get the hell out of Jackson every day.

I doubt the city of Jackson has anything to do with interstate work (I sure as hell hope not!!), but I'm fine with blaming them anyway.

Problem with the interstate is it was designed & built in the 1950s. It’s been upgraded north & south of there, but that location would be a ***** to widen it. I don’t miss working downtown.

Rather than use I-220 to make a loop around downtown Jackson they probably should have made a true loop.

I get to work at 7; Madison, trace, 55, Woodrow Wilson. Nights that I don’t work, I leave the gym at 5 and take old canton to avoid 55/county line (overflow onto 55) and the HORRENDOUS trace backup at old canton rd in Madison. No where is safe in this city. I’ve been in traffic from coast to coast and, for this size of city, the congestion is painful

Integrity. Dedication. Progress.

An ad full of awards he doesn't deserve from people who don't know anything about what he actually does here.

And a bunch of mayors of other cities who may or may not know him, but were almost certainly paid for their endorsement and have no idea what kind of job he's doing here. Where are the local endorsements??

Notice the small type and how quickly anything to do with things he actually accomplished leaves the screen. Most of it accomplished by someone else in reality if it's an accomplishment at all.

I think I have a good chance to compete with the Mayor in the next election I'm gonna send in my resume. It'll be a blank sheet of paper that states........... "I'm Black and a Communist too".

No way, won’t work. Need to stand firm on future goals: “Keep crime high! Keep water dirty! Keep roads undriveable!”

Honest question.. can we move the capital? Is that even a possibility? I know other states have in the past
You could only imagine the screams of racism that would create. The moaning and wailing generated by the attempted airport takeover or moving the zoo to the other side of I-55 would pale in comparison to this.
Serious question since we're talking hypothetically: Where would we choose as the new capital?

I feel your pain, I live in Brandon and have done the same. Wave if you see me sitting on 20 east today. 🤦‍♂️

One of the problems here is they can’t seem to figure out that red lights should be synchronized. Getting a green light, only to stop at the next block is just retarded.

mix in some idiots clogging the left lane on any road that isn’t 2 lanes and you have yourself a painful commute.

The trace isn’t even an option in a plumbing truck so I spend a lot of time in traffic.

They are getting exactly what they vote for every 4 years. So is Hazlehurst, McComb and a dozen other towns in the south/southwest Mississippi area. The state really should be split in two. This part of the state is dead and is nothing like the northeastern part where economic growth and opportunity is actually occurring.
