Gave up 230 yards. One TD was on a punt return to the Saints 13. Another TD was a fumble return by the Lions Defense. One FG was because of a KO return to the Saints 12.

So the Saints D really gave up 10 points and 230 yards. Outstanding. If they can be a top 15 D, Saints could go far in the playoffs.

Granted, it was Detroit, but the D did look pretty decent. They have a tough game at Philadelphia next week. Im hoping that McNabb won't be able to play and Vick is suspended for 3 games, I believe. That would be a huge road win and a good start for the Saints. I look at the schedule and I see 9-7. If they stay injury free and the D continues to play well, they could be a 11-5 to 10-6 team. I believe that the division will be between the Saints and the Falcons. Tampa is terrible and the jury is out on Carolina.

if the D can keep up that type of production, the team will go far in the playoffs.

I don't give a **** who the opponent was. The D played well in the preseason too.

It was just one game, but they looked a little better and faster today than they did last year. Kevin Smith looks to be pretty decent and Stafford will only get better with time.

He did have a touch down, but that was because a long return... i believe

I really loved the defense, and Sedrick straight up ripped the ball from Smith on the goal but the refs hosed the Saints on like 3 straight calls, but point is the Saints stayed composed and kept playing team defense...

thoughts on stafford... he doesn't have a lot of weapons so he looks for calvin a LOT.
k smith also got a lot of checkdowns... I thought stafford played good, offense not the lions problems...
I feel like Saints D focused on the run and didn't pressure Stafford any, I hope this is the case cause we didn't get a lot of pressure on him all day...

Agree. If they can play defense like that with any kind of consistency, they will have a nice year. Also, because it was the Lions, I suspect that the 230 has a certain number of mop up yards in it.
