Salem did nothing like they have the last 4 games. Last few games they were passing as much as running. They did none of that last night. Salem has utilized the spread, And they have utilized a single tight with 3 wide and a single back, all designed to spread the field. Didn’t untilze any of that last night. 95% run between the tackles. It’s like they used the same game plan they had against Martinsburg and Franklin County. Franklin should have won the game. So to say they can’t change the offense is kinda of a farce when we have used all these formations for the last 4 years and chose not to last night. Salem was out coached last night. We weren’t out manned. If what you are saying is true, Salem won’t make it to the Region game!! They’ll go to Louisa and get beat badly
Perhaps the reason they did what they did was the belief that was their most favorable matchups. PH, probably like Martinburg and FC have enough,if not more, speed and just enough size to match the Spartans. In fact, that has probably been true during the years several other times for PH and of some former Salem playoff opponents. However, much more often than not through the years, Salem does what they do, does not try to do things they cannot do and their opponents make the mistakes(turnovers, penalties, etc.) feeling the pressure of trying to beat Salem. Last night, PH did not wilt but, the historical probability still says it was the right plan. Lewis is a great player with speed, PH has several like him.
