Annoying Taylor Martinez as his starting quarterback was the worst decision Bo Pelini ever made. And it's not the kids fault because he was not a quarterback to begin with.

I am no Taylor Martinez fan but his credentials are far superior to TA -- it isn't even close
in his 3 full seasons he won 2 divisional titles --- TA has zero thus far

both the Big12 coaches and BIG coaches both voted TM to all conference teams (one 1st team selection)-- TA has yet to sniff an honorable mention team

When a coach is more interested about building up his quarterback stats than actually improving the team then that's a problem. When a coach is more interested in proving everybody wrong about his quarterback then making his team better then that's a problem. Bo pelini's handling of Taylor Martinez mirrors his handling of the Texas game day debacle. And if people could understand that then they will understand what went wrong here under his watch.

Not that anyone asked but I'd put Nebraska as Iowa's third or fourth toughest game. Behind Michigan and @Penn State. @Minnesota will be tough and Wisconsin is always a problem. Nebraska lines up somewhere in that mix.

Just so everyone knows...
Bo Pelini is undefeated in Bowl games NOT started by Taylor Martinez. Other starting quarterbacks who won Bowl games for Bo...
Jammal Lord
Joe Ganz
Zac Lee
Tommy Armstrong

What say you @jlb321 ?

I guess we disagree ... i will go with almost every other meaningful stat, W-L record, actual titles (even if just divisional), unbiased BIG12 and BIG coaches opinions, and games against Iowa

you can push all in with a single metric --- bowl wins

I better disengage as I'm going to look awfully foolish when TA leads us to a 12-1 + conf championship season as your expert analysis has predicted

I don't think it's fair to compare TA's bowl game opponents to TM's bowl game opponents.

Martinez faced much better teams (#9 South Carolina and #5 Georgia) than what Armstrong has faced thus far.

can play this all day ... how many total losses does TA have, how many divisional titles does TA have?

and the trump card:

vs Iowa

TM 2-0

TA 1-2
2013 --- lost by 3 TDs at home
2014 --- needed a furious comeback to get OT win (kudos but very lucky not to be 0 for 3)
2015 --- 4 INTs - essentially lost the game all by his lonesome

Armstrong didn't play in 2013 chief.

So, this thread has now devolved in to a TA vs TM argument, which has nothing to with anything except some posters egos.

I read every post and then forgot what the thread is about.

If memory serves, Sam ranked TM ahead of TA, but then left the door open to switch that if TA has a killer senior campaign. That really is what this thread originally stated, or meant to say....

Clearly RR70 is prepared to wear all of us out. I love me some Tmart, but didn't envision a TA vs TM thread. But these things happen.
But in the spirit of the original post, what game on Sam's 12-6 do you think we'll lose and what game on his 1-4 do you think we'll win

I don't think we'll lose to anyone in the 12-6 range. Ohio State will be a loss imo. The only other games I think could be trouble is Oregon followed by Wisconsin. Oregon simply because they have athletes and they could disrupt our young D-line into Never Neverland with their pace. Wisconsin is the only other hiccup I could see. They look to have our number and Riley and company will have to put a big azz stake into their hearts before the fourth quarter. All the other games we should roll and that includes Iowa. We're just on another level with regards to all the other teams.

I'm worried about Oregon, and how it affects the rest of the season.
Ohio State, obviously.
Not worried about Io_a or Wyoming, but I expect a unexpected lose.

Here it is...
If we beat Fresno St and Wyoming it will get our D-line a few quarters to gel. Then comes Oregon. It'll be a dogfight no matter how young they are in some positions. If we win that game and follow it up with a road win against Northwestern were in like Flynn. Illinois, Indiana and Purdue will pay for last years(sorry to lump you Indiana into this payback campaign but oh well) crap fest. Which now brings Nebraska to the land of cows and cheese... if we get out of there with a win then I might just have to rethink my Ohio St pick. If Riley gets this semi rolling down hill EVERYBODY'S gonna need to get the hell outta the way! By then we will be firing on all cylinders and Minnesota, Maryland and finally Iowa will get taken behind the woodshed in a very brutal way. Paybacks are a *****. There it is if we beat Oregon and follow it up at Northwestern boys and girls.

Red rover I've been posting that out in a few of my posts in the last month, that we will know a lot about our defense after the Oregon and Northwestern games. I like your dream world of being 11-1 but none of know what injuries could effect the team in outcomes of some of these games.

5 Toughest opponents
At tOSU
At Iowa
Oregon
At Wisconsin
At Northwestern.

Was it a dream that we were something like 28 seconds from going 10-3 last year with all the injuries, drama and new system. We're going to be fine.
