Man, 'Nick Saban's School for Coaches Who Can't Behave Good and Want To Learn Other Stuff Good' is really effective.
What position is he being offered? He may just want to try his hand in the pros, and it seems like, as on offensive mind, Atlanta would be a pretty good place to go right about now.
This probably has nothing to do with Saban. More than likely he just wants to move into the pro ranks. Salary may be higher too. Also.... Atlanta is a much nicer city than Tuscaloosa in my humble opinion.
I think it's a good move for him personally and I have zero issues with it and I think he should do it. I do find it somewhat interesting not a single reply yet that Sark owed 'Bama something. Can I draw a parallel of any kind between LSU's interest in KW and Sark leaving 'Bama after one year? Does he "owe" 'Bama anything? I don't think either of them owe anyone anything, I'm just curious about the perceived difference between the two situations because as of yet, nobody has said Sark owes 'Bama anything, and I thought somebody would.
Crazy how these guys move around. That said, it's a great move for SS. Working with professionals, loads of talent, no recruiting...
Sort of completely different. Sarkisian was fired by USC. Took time off and was given a second chance.
To the best of my knowledge Williams wasn't fired.
Now if USC had kept Sarkisian as HC, then he bolted USC for Atlanta OC, this would be similar situations.

Just read an article on CBSsports that alludes to what some on here are saying. Namely, that Sark and Saban often butted heads. They apparently had agreed that he would stay on until after signing day and then leave. Saban apparently knew Sark was looking at the Falcons.
On a related topic... I have long been of the opinion that if a school loses a position coach/coordinator within one month after signing day, that a new recruit should have the option of being released from their LOI. It is complete ******** that a school can knowingly deceive recruits in this manner. Bama knew Sark was leaving but told nobody until the LOI's were signed? I think that is shady as hell.

But the fact is one of THE reasons a blue chip player will commit to a school is because of a great working relationship he has developed with a particular coach. That is what often makes for a great recruiter - - a guy who can really connect with these kids and make them want to play for him.
This crap should not be legal.

Ya, it's a messed up system that's for sure. But as long as coaches keep getting paid (and players don't), they will be free to do as they wish. Players need to beware of the program their signing up for. That said, in the case of Bama, I think most (if not all) players and recruits will be just fine with whoever they bring in. They're still playing for the best.
I think you are right about the Bama recruits. They are going to be just fine and Sark was not the offensive coordinator for very long anyway.
My point was more general and theoretical rather than a specific annoyance over this particular case. This happens all the time. I think the recruits should have more rights
Or maybe the schools and/or coaches should have more penalties. I'd rather see disincentives against coach-hopping.
You can't sign a LOI to any SEC school and later claim you were duped. Every single person who signs there, and their parent(s), knows what their getting into. Plus, if they had to give back their signing bonus or new car to leave school when this happens, you can bet they'd forget and forgive all in the same breath and move on rather quickly.
What? Penalize people for taking better or different jobs? Cmon man. This is America. If the job doesn't fit, you can find a new one. Are you also opposed to players leaving school early?
FWIW I don't like the deception either. Georgia and LSU just fired guys after signing day. That is really bad too.
We kept Charlton Warren through signing day.

Semi-serious. But the moment I heard Sark was leaving I immediately thought of Chip Kelly. It would make sense for both sides. Saban only cares about winning and Chip needs to reintroduce himself.
