I figured his days were numbered after that loss to washington. The USC faithful are getting impatient.

USC, Maryland, Illinois, Virginia and UCF are just the few I know are looking for HC. There just aren't that many good coaches out there looking for jobs.

If he's so good how come he hasn't coached anywhere in 2 years? Shouldn't 'good' coaches get picked up after 1 season at the latest? Forgot he's .500 coach
He'll catch on this year if he wants. Maybe Wanny comes back.

Add Purdue looking at the end of the year with Darrell Hazell, been there 3 years with 5 wins-25 losses so far.

I think if the new coaches are offensive coordinators then the entire lot of them will be converted to the spread or pistol offenses. The Pro Set offense is almost gone. One reason they may not be hired.

The season isn't even over and some pretty good jobs are open. Not an ideal time for a school like Rutgers to be looking.

There are always going to be good jobs open. Coaches are getting more money and less time to put their marks on programs.

Maybe, but some years are definitely better than others. This doesn't appear to be a good one already.

You don't make firing decisions based off of that alone, but you consider it when there isn't a clear choice.

Wow now it's coming out he was drunk while coaching the Arizona State game, blacked out on the team plane after WSU loss, was drunk at practice numerous times including today.

If he coached drunk according to what his players are saying don't see how he survives. Also stating Haden knew he was a drunk before he hired him. @InsideUSC is tweeting all about it.

I thought the guy was a frat guy moron, but now I feel sorry him. It is pretty clear he has real issues.

Wow..... within hours of the Sarkisian announcement, USC 2016 commit, 5-star LB Daelin Hayes out of Ann Arbor, MI, decommitted from the Trojans. Ouch!

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf...ions-against-sarkisian-surface-001333506.html

I'm sure the final straw behind the de-commit was today's Sark announcement, but keep in mind Notre Dame has been going hard after 5 star LB Daelin Hayes. Hayes is outta Ann Arbor, MI Skyline High School.

Interestingly, one of the coaches on the AA Skyline staff is Andre (Bad Moon) Rison, the former MSU Spartan and NFL receiver. In fact, Andre's son Hunter Rison currently plays at Ann Arbor Skyline as a WR, and Hunter (2017 class) has already committed (not surprisingly) to his father's school, Michigan State.

My guess is that Daelin Hayes will choose either Notre Dame or a slight possibility, Michigan. Despite being an Ann Arbor High School, one wonders how the Wolverines are portrayed at Skyline because they have a former Spartan on the coaching staff.

Another interesting twist. Daelin Hayes is taking his official visit to Notre Dame this weekend, Oct 17.... yup, that's the Irish vs Trojans game!!! Talk about awkward timing for USC! DOH!

He signed a financial letter to play with USC. This whole thing could get ugly. Don't know the exact scenario but how does he now get out of signing a pre financial letter with USC to enroll early?

You know if USC beat Washington Sarkisian would not be taking a leave right now. The stories are coming out now that he has been drunk on a couple of occasions, after his infamous speech to the boosters, particularly at practice and on a team flight. Things are overlooked until you lose.

Leave of absence = rehab?

He seems to need it, if the stories are true. I hope it goes well for him and he gets the help that he needs.

Yes, but you can be fired in most places for showing up at work impaired, especially if you are responsible for student athletes.

If that meant he did not come to practice on Sunday drunk, maybe?

So you can be fired for having symptoms of this 'disease ' at work ? That sounds discriminatory if alcholism is really a disease

Listen, I tend to agree with you, but I think you would get fired in many places for this. I don't recommend trying it out to see what happens.

He's been fired, leave of absence is over.
Oops already posted officially fired.
Call it a disease, call it what you want, being drunk on the job in many places will cost you your job.
Unless your contract has a clause addressing substance abuse and how it will be handled.
But in this case, coaches get fired for less and he will be bought out unless USC claims it was for cause and I haven't heard of them trying to do that .
