When I think small town Mississippi, I think dead and decaying downtown, lack of young people, abundance of overweight people, and Prohibition-Era attitude towards opening bars and restaurants. That is the opposite of Oxford. Starkville has changed some for the better, but my impression is that it still retains more conventional small town Mississippi than Oxford has because it is more apart from the university.

Im not making a value judgment on what's better.

So OM is less fat too?

Less fat than most Mississippi places.Lafayette County was third in the county health ratings published recently. Oktibbeha was in top 10 also.

And both are because of the concentration of 18-21 year olds, bringing the average age down. There are more students than other people in Starkville and Oxford. Could also be the high average education level of both places. Which counties were 1 and 2?

That's assuming that students are counted in the census for the respective school counties. Probably some are and some are not.
