STARKVILLE, Miss. - Due to a record amount of rainfall in the month of September, several grass parking areas on campus have been damaged and will be temporarily unavailable in order to allow them to dry and be repaired.

On Saturday, October 3rd, the following changes will be in effect:

- Bulldog Club Reserved Lot 27 will be relocated to Sorority Row immediately west and across Bully Blvd. from the current location.

- Bulldog Club Reserved Lot 7 sustained damage in the southern most part of the lot which required repairs to an underground power line. Approximately half of Lot 7 will be unavailable on Saturday, October 3rd. The usable portion of the lot will be filled on a first-come first-served basis with any remaining Lot 7 pass holders being relocated to the gated lot south of Hand Laboratory. To access this lot, members should use Bully Blvd. and President's Circle around Allen Hall. Bulldog Club members with reserved passes in Lot 27 or 7 may also proceed to any game day only pay lots and will be admitted by showing their reserved parking pass, which will be punched for Game 3.

There are additional reserved parking lots in grass areas that will be available barring additional rain prior to the game. Please monitor www.mstateathletics.com for any additional changes to gameday parking.

Traffic Information:

Bulldog Club members who have reserved parking passes in Lots 11, 13, 17, 21 or 23 are strongly recommended to avoid Blackjack Road and enter campus off Highway 12 onto Bully Blvd. to access these parking lots.

Mississippi State University and the MSU Athletic Department appreciates your understanding and cooperation as we make temporary shifts in parking to ensure that our campus will remain beautiful. Again, fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy campus and all the activities surrounding home football games.

...and the ground got torn up. Certainly, they could have prevented that. What would you suggest they do Oh Wise One?

was allowing the grass parking lots to be used last week.

To sum up a letter written to the Dispatch, if students had torn up the green areas and been caught, they'd owe thousands of dollars, be suspended and face criminal charges. But the university let visitors do exactly that.

If it were another 11:20 game then yes- but with a 6:30 kickoff people will be filtering in all day.

There was no way in avoiding last week because the monsoon started after 8am. People who tried to drive their Toyota Camry's and Honda Accord's in that crap got what they deserved.

I would suggest that they better support their parking areas to handle these conditions, it is not an impossible task.

In reality, I dont give two *****.

a paved area while the university lets the place dry out and also fixes the problem areas.

like you said though, it will be a fiasco on saturday. a lot of the blue hairs will not get the message from the university and will be PISSED when they get to their lot and it is either full or closed.

there will be a lot of comments similar to:

"Do you know who I am boy?"

"I have been a paying member of the alumni association for XX years!"

"Well son, I don't give a crap about your grass that I pay for"

"Let all them little pissant kids park somewhere else on gameday"

/i am sure there are many that i am missing.
//it would be funny if CB9 and Porkchop couldn't park in their spots

We probably have many donors who do not own computers or have internet access to get information like this, and who knows if local media will publish it. Maybe the athletics dept will update the flashing highway signs with some of this info.

be patient and get there early. Yesterday, I saw a gator running through the junction with a net dragging behind it. (Like they do to the baseball dirt) They were smoothing out the mud ruts and footprints. I guess they have to do this first before grass will start to grow back. I don't know what they are going to do to the other grassy areas where cars park. Those are the worst.

Put it out all over campus. The deer will come in droves. The hardcore hunters in our fanbase won't have an excuse....

If I'm not mistaken, rye grass can't be planted until later on in the year. Could be wrong

the first frost. I would say we're getting close to that time frame. Someone who studied in grass while at State might correct me though...

Now is a good time to plant rye grass. Most people who plant rye for deer plant it the first few weeks of October.

1. Have people direct traffic, particularly at locations that you assure people you will have people directing traffic. Never have I had anywhere near the problem getting onto campus for a game that I've had this year. It is ridiculous.

2. Hold a workshop for the people working the lots and teach them how to actually do their jobs. These guys are terrible.

3. Build a parking garage - it's time.

4. Don't let people park in the grass when it has rained all month. Really, this last one should be common sense.
