Saw this on the pay board - What's the floor for MSU football next season regarding wins?

I will hold off on judging and giving my opinion on overall performance until the end of the season. There are too many unknowns right now. At least that's what I'm planning to do right now.
Schedule is brutal. I only see 2 rock solid wins there. I think we will win 4 or 5 games, but this could be a disaster of a season.
Tech and Ten was my senior year at State and that’ll always be the floor for me.

I'm going to be somewhere between majorly disappointed and downright pissed if we only win 4 games. Is that what you're asking?
Arnett won 5. Other than the covid year, 4 wins would be back to Croom error in 2008. Surely we haven't stepped back that badly.

Freshman year here. That was fun. Especially going to the games super early as a pledge in a jacket and tie and sweating my juevos off to save seats for all the upperclassmen who either didn't show or left in the 2nd quarter because who wanted to watch that shiit. GOOD TIMES!!!
The time we almost came back to tie Georgia… I was walking back to the dorm and telling people loudly that South Carolina would beat UGA easily the next week.
The Gamecocks beat them 23-10 (an aside: Joe Lee Dunn was their DC). UGA finished 9-3 but won only two games against D1 teams with winning records that season.
3 is the doomsday scenario if we have key injuries or the defense is the worst in CFB and the offense isn’t quite good enough to make up for it.

I don't see us only winning 3, but it could happen. We are lacking on the defensive side of the ball, big time.

I guess 5 too. But the question was the floor. Minimum wins if everything goes wrong. If anyone looks at that schedule and sees a floor above 2, they just haven’t been a Mississippi State fan long enough.

Arkansas brought in a good qb and Petrino will have their offense much improved. if you look at their portal haul they’ve upgraded quite a bit. pittman is working exclusively with the O line, and he’s a very good O line coach. That won’t be an easy game to win.
A few things in this thread need to be pointed out. AZ State might be one of the worst teams in power 5 this year. We should win be 14 or more. AR didn’t up grade as significantly as some other have stated plus Pittman is Pittman and petrino didn’t light it up at AM last year. Sun belt Billy and the gators don’t worry me plus it’s at home. We seem to always play ATM well at home so I don’t see this changing. It’s still ATM.

88-89 was my last full year. I had to take one stupid class in fall of 89. I guess I had completely blocked it out of my mind that I was actually there for that abomination. I went to every home game and a couple of away games and still can't remember that.
And that coaching staff got 2 more years after that. Times have definitely changed.
2 would be my floor but I watched us lose to Maine and Troy so I know it can also be worse than my expectations
5 would be my floor 9 my ceiling. I expect to win 6 maybe 7. I know anything is possible and the schedule is terrible as it always is but there is no need to be overly negative. 2 is completely unrealistic. The last crew won 5 ffs. I'm not sure they could coach high school ball.
