To be fair, they also took away the 1985 CWS and they got Dak as close to Austin as the NFL would allow.

I swear we are cursed school. We had a coach that built a national powerhouse only to burn it to the ground by choice. Like WTAF? Where else does that happen?

And our closest shot at a national championship, we choke away a sizable lead and a Hail Mary 3 goes in. After we had managed to avoid UConn in our bracket. The cards were lined up perfectly for us to win that game. You cannot make this stuff up.

I’m pretty sure I remember Vic explaining that he wasn’t coming to MSU without his ace assistant coach Johnnie. I would whole heartedly support Johnnie as HC but wonder if Vic is talking his entire staff to TX.

You can bet the house on this happening. Vic will definitely take all of his staff with him.

If Vic couldn't convince all of the necessary assistants to come with him, then he'd have stayed at Mississippi State.

(my opinion)

No offense to Johnnie, but that's not the direction I want to go.

I don't want a first time head coach. I want a proven winner.

The worst thing about it is every elite WBB coach in history (EVER) has stayed at the program they built into a powerhouse until they retired. WBB has never been a stepping stone type sport like College Football or MBB. Summit, Geno, Mulkey, McGraw, and all the others have all done this. We just had to have the first coach in the whole damn 40 year history of the sport to break that trend.

Except, Dan stayed nine years, FIVE years longer than average CFB HC and Vic stayed eight years, longer than average WBB HC!

NOTHING was going to keep either at MSU!

Dan was going to leave because college football is a different animal and MSU will never be at the table with the big boys and that is what Dan wanted. Vic leaving is a whole other deal. Average coaching tenures don't mean jackcrap when you have a program at the elite status VS has MSU. I can assure you there are very, very, very few coaches that go to a school and build a program into a national elite power, play for 2 NCs and then up and leave when things look like they will only get better (given the upgrade in recruiting). Unlike Dan, VS had everything he needed to win at the highest level right here at MSU in WBB. He had already proven that and the MSU fanbase has universally supported him like no other coach I know of in its history. The personal and family angle had to be the one factor that trumped all others, otherwise it made way more sense to stay at MSU. And I don't really want to here about how much better it is to live in Austin. Most 60 year old couples are content to like in a nice, friendly community wherever that is. This is not like if Vic was 40.

That picture bothers me.

It reminds me of the monkey performing as the organ grinder turns the handle.

However, I remember Mullen doing the gator chop as he exited the plane when arriving in Gainesville.

Man . . . I don't think I would dance like that for somebody who had just hired me to coach . . . especially after I've already made millions for several years.

Vic is originally from Austin and his elderly parents still live there. Word on a couple of WBB sites is he went home to be close to them. Family means more than money to him so he didn't take our offer to match Texas. I hate to see him leave but I appreciate what he did and I wish him the best as long as they aren't playing us.

Article out today says his parents are buried in Austin.

Speaking of GP, is it me or is Paul Jones a total douche bag? At least the other mods are civil with people. He gets outright personal with it. Then starts whining when other people get personal. Rosebowl is a sunshine pumper no doubt but at least he's civil with the subscribers.
