...Syracuse? Pat Forde thinks so.

"Syracuse (11). Left: Scott Shafer. Arriving: Is this the re-entry point for Greg Schiano? Has had success in the northeast, and his name hasn’t generated as much interest at some other locales as might have been expected. (There was some chatter about Schiano and Miami, but it may not be front-burner chatter.) Remains to be seen if athletic director Mark Coyle would reciprocate any Schiano interest, but he seemingly would be a very good hire at a school that has been down on its football luck for most of the last decade."

You forgot:
Rutgers (17). Potentially leaving: Kyle Flood. Arriving: The Piscataway Fire Department, to put out the dumpster fire that is Scarlet Knights football. There are no reports that Flood will be fired, but neither has anyone in the school administration publicly stated support for the embattled coach. His popularity with fans has reached this level: a public service announcement featuring Flood that appeared on the stadium big screen Saturday during Rutgers’ home loss to Nebraska prompted a chorus of boos from the fans. After a season that has been miserable for many reasons beyond the 4-7 record, it’s very hard to envision a scenario in which Flood returns. Maybe Schiano comes to the wood-chopping rescue of his former school and replaces his former assistant, but it might be better for Rutgers to have a fresh start.

We DO NOT want Golden, Greg, Ed O, or Kiffin there (see: guys who would kill it recruiting New Jersey in the New York City area).

Schiano to SU or MD would be bad. Those are really the only schools that concern me as far as Schiano goes, too much overlap with NJ, and a real need for him to hit NJ hard. Now, unless we fire Flood it doesn't matter because we already get none of the top players, so it can't get worse.

I don't see Schiano going to SU though, he is more aware than most of how difficult a job that is and how hard a sell.

Could you imagine GS vs. Flood in terms of recruiting Jersey? Schiano would eat KF alive.

Well, yes, but it wouldn't change anything from this year. Flood is already getting no NJ talent. Schiano would be competing for NJ with Penn St, Mich etc. Not RU (assuming Flood is still coach).

Very true. Flood is already getting his butt kicked in recruiting in Jersey by other schools, but GS coming in and taking Jersey guys would really sting. -And he's already got plenty of VERY strong connections here.

At this point Schiano needs a job. Any job. His name only falls more and more on the list for each year he stays out of coaching. Syracuse would seem to be the best job that he may actually get offered.

Schiano trying to recruit against FSU and Miami in Florida is almost worth the watch.

Why? Schiano already recruited against miami and fsu, as Miami's DC, from '99 - '00, and landed his share of great players, who went on to play for national championships.

Cuse is a dead program and has been for quite a few years. Can't see Schiano leaving the sunny/warm climes for the worst weather in the US...He will end up in a far better program than that. Maybe not Miami but somewhere better than Cuse..

I happen to think that Solomon Manning, Phil Campbell, Mohamed Jabbie, and Nick Krimin have talent.
I've seen each of them play. Have you ? They all have the ability to be quality players for Rutgers.
Why would you knock them ?

Not-for-nothing but Flood's NJ recruiting sucks. Period. I don't want to hear more of the b.s. that this kid is "under-rated", and this kid "stopped taking offers," we've been hating this for three years now and it's all been nothing but ********.

True, in this regard, it would be scarier...WAY scarier if Schiano ended up at Buffalo.

Dude, kbee3 is like the best talent evaluator ever, way better than people that get paid to do it, and he unbiasedly said that our recruits, who no other P5 coaches seem to want, are all under the radar stars... What's not to believe?!

Actually, all four of the guys I mentioned are rated 3-star recruits by this site. I don't know how much "under-the-radar" that is. But I did see all of them play and they did look pretty good to me.
What exactly don't you like about them ?
BTW, the guy I was responding to said Flood got NO NJ TALENT.
News flash....these four guys are all from New Jersey...they all verballed to Rutgers....and they all have talent.
Oh, and four is more than zero.

I agree with you. Those 4 have multiple offers and are solid players who will do well if they are developed properly. Now he might ask about development but they can play. Campbell will be a SS. Manning is fast and hits hard at Olb. Frimin has other offers and hs stuck with RU. Jabbie is a speed guy who can return punts and KO's.

Jabbie isn't a speed guy nor, I believe, does he have multiple offers. But he was a beast this year in his conference and I'm looking forward to him on the banks. Super hard working player.

Jabbie has certainly improved his speed from a year ago. He is a hard worker and one of the player analysts on TOS said he was impressed with how much bigger and faster the kid is this year. So I go from there.

Glad you've seen them play. I do not dispute that they might be talented players.

But any reasonable, objective analysis of the Rutgers FB program the last four years has seen a significant decline in our depth and talent level since Kyle Flood took over. And even if we're getting "under the radar" talent, it's clear we haven't developed those players at the level necessary to compete successfully in the B1G.

How can you say that about the depth that's just not true at any position except for LB. just the fact we were able to field a starting secondary most of the year is amazing after we lost two top corners and an starting free safety before the yr started. Depth is not the issue here. Sloppy tackleling and schem on D and O I think are the biggest issues and of course QB play

Uhhhhhhhh... These guys have talent but there are nowhere near the Top NJ talent this year.
The following are the Top 10 NJ recruits and none are coming to RU ...Way to go FUDD !
Walker,Gary, Guarantano, Haskins,Johnson, Fries, Abramson, Fuller, Mitchell, Chambers.

Right - depth may not be an issue in that we can still field a team. But don't think that is what anyone is concerned about. Its the quality of most of the players that is the issue.

I don't think we are losing by 30 points to anyone that is decent simply because of schemes and sloppy tackling.

The fact that we can put bodies on the field to play a position does not equate depth. And the fact that we lost most of our secondary due to them, you know, getting arrested and kicked off the team is pretty damning.

Also, it wasn't like that secondary group exactly killed it last year, either.

It would be a battle between Schiano and Franklin. Any 2 star leftovers will be Floods.

I think Kbee took exception to the generalization of 'no NJ talent' as it insults the players that are currently committed. The better way to say it is Flood hasn't pulled in enough top level NJ talent (or top level talent in general). I'm very happy with Solomon Manning, Phil Campbell, Mohamed Jabbie, and Nick Krimin BUT we need more complementary players of equal or higher ranking/ability to consistently compete in the B1G.
