Beshear said he didn’t expect to change the Sept 28th date. I’m hoping this means that he’s realizing kids need to be in person or that it’s a political loser for him to push it back more. I’m ready to be back in the classroom teaching.
Are you all using the cohort system?

We are starting all online on Sept 14th and then hopefully Sept 28th we will move on to the hybrid model. At the high school I’m at they would be divided into two groups. Our school colors are purple and gold (go Camels) so one half will be the purple group and the other half the gold group.

Hoping against hope we are some sort of normalcy by November or December...although I’m probably dreaming there.

Props to NYC for delaying 2 more weeks and implementing mandatory random virus testing. Lol.

How can you legally force a child to test at a public school? That's absurd.

As for Kentucky, we are going to trail NYC, the worst hit city in the world with most strict lock down in the country, in opening public schools.

Dr. Stack sent some recommendations down today is the word that athletic busses should only have 11 people on them. This is different I believe from the guidance for an actual school day. It will make it rough on some rural districts to be able to play if those recommendations stand.

^ Could be right but it wouldn’t surprise for the parents to get creative and find transportation to the games.

I seriously doubt that Podunk High in Gobstob, KY really care what the Marx Bros. say about regulations.

If you are interested in your kids going back to in person learning in Fayette County, please join the Facebook group “Let Them Learn in Fayette County”. Protests are in the process of being organized. The group originated from the Facebook group “Let Them Learn” Kentucky Open OUR Schools. From that group they are creating groups specific to your county, so if you aren’t in Fayette County, there may be a Let Them Learn group for your county. The “Let Them Learn” Kentucky Open OUR Schools group would be glad to assist you.

School Guidance
KDE came out with a new guidance on masks. They must be worn at all times. I think the change is they must be on even when 6 ft apart.
Kids won’t adhere to this. My 5th grade son HATES wearing the mask. To force him and all of his peers to wear the mask at all times (they were given “mask breaks” last week) is a recipe for disaster.

Every new “recommendation”/mandate revision being made right now cannot be enforced 100% of the time. Those officials know it. They’re making it impossible for these school districts that have gone against the governor’s wishes. And they’ll do the same for athletics. Setting them up to fail.

All of these politicians and reports can ead. I'm so over it. We don't need masks, we don't need a vaccine. We don't need lockdowns. Keep away from the elderly, especially if you're sick. Everyone else back to normal.

They are just trying to scare people to say well I don’t wanna go back if it’s like that. Don’t fall for it. Say ok let’s go back like that. Then just like in the sports leagues that our kids have been playing in they won’t actually stay 6 ft apart and won’t actually wear mask literally all day, and we will be ok.

My wife was reading up on the Cross Country requirements last night. One is that runners have to wear their mask right up to the starting gun. WTF are they going to do with their mask? If they give it to the coach then that really defeats the purpose of potentially spreading the virus by cross contamination of masks. Its all a virtuous show now.

My high schooler is one of the lucky ones in the state.

Currently 3 days NTI/2 days in person.

They were told two mask warnings = parents phoned.

Third strike = no in person for you.

3 questions and a comment...

1) How long has King Andy’s mask mandate been in place?
2) What has KY’s Covid numbers done since the mask mandate has been in place?
3) Given the answers to the above two questions...WTF are they making kids wear masks even when 6’ apart?

King Andy and his arbitrary mandates can go get pumped.

Yeah I’m not joining any more of those. I lasted about 2 days on the Let Them Play group before I dropped out and I’m on their side.

I'm pro back to school like everyone else, but I have a bad feeling the teachers would just do their "sick-out" **** if forced to return to their classroom to teach. Not sure protesting or mandating them back in the classroom will solve anything. Eff unions.

Yes it is depressing. That is the sad reality we are in right now and what the group is trying to change for the future of our kids. You think the group is sad, try sitting here every day watching your kids fall further and further behind. On a call this morning, Stephanie Spires who is on the school board, brushed that aside to be ok saying well everyone will behind so we will all be on the same level. Manny Caulk has no plan in place for the kids to go back to school. He has made that clear over and over. It will take the masses standing up to him for us to even remotely stand a chance for someone else to jump in and push him to action.

Teachers now are ready to go back to school now that they have experienced the frustrations of online teaching and see what it’s doing to the kids. Part of planning Manny should be doing is taking a survey of how many teachers would go back into the classroom today. But he apparently won’t do that survey or does not want to release results.

The American public school system is already among the worst in the world and probably the most dangerous. Yet this is brushed aside because everyone will be falling behind so everyone is in the same boat.

These people are foolish and one could almost believe they are allowing these harmful things on purpose.

Idk what county you're in, but one of my best friends is a teacher in Harlan county. She's totally over the bs and wants "her kids" now. Get this, she can "tutor" a kid in the class for 2 hours, but only twice a week. Same kid... can only come twice a week. What the **** are we doing here? It's either mortal danger, or it isn't. It's not and most people know that... so what is the logic behind any of this madness?

Yes they've been open(I don't have kids but know they're open).
I hate the new format too. It's terrible for mobile devices.

We have people in positions that are used to coasting, and typically make no real impactful decisions, over-proceduring the situation. Sure sign of a weak manager is implementing tons of new ridiculous procedures.

Bingo! That’s exactly what’s happening. Best I’ve seen it put.
