Wow! I had no idea ticket prices had gone up so much! One of my sisters has terminal cancer, and never got past MGCJC. I'm giving her a car I plan to drive to her in Gulfport, so had thought about letting her experience what tailgating in the SEC and going to a game would be like. But $500 tickets & hotel, on top of the free car, gas to drive from Cali, jet fare back, etc., makes me wonder if it's worth it, or if I should spend more wisely on other things.

I'm not trying to be a cheapskate on this, it's just that I've been unemployed since my company went under when Covid hit, so I kinda have to factor that in these days. Job opportunities aren't as plentiful for me at 64 as they were at 54.

Getting old sucks!

Thanks, but no. It wouldn't feel right. Plus I didn't know before that there are tickets for less than $100 each. I mostly want her to be able to enjoy the tailgate & fanfare. And anywhere inside the stadium should be just fine to take in the atmosphere.

Truly, I just didn't have a clue about ticket prices, so was thinking $250 each might be the least expensive. If she wants to go, another $200 for 2 total shouldn't be a problem.

Tickets for big games are always highest early during game week, by Thursday/Friday prices start falling. On game day, ticket prices on stubhub, for premium seats, will bottom out a couple of hours before game time. If she has no mobility issues, you can buy cheap upper deck tickets, then watch for premium seat prices to bottom out.

I hope you and your sister enjoy the game.

17 Cancer
Yeah, cancer sucks. Worse still, she was living in NJ where all treatments & meds covered by Medicaid at her age of 62 with her condition. But she has no family in New Jersey, no good friends, no job.

She moved back to Mississippi to be close to friends & family, not wanting to die more-or-less alone. But Mississippi won't cover her until she is 65. She'll make 63, but not expected to see 64. And her cancer is in her blood, so she needs occasional transfusions in addition to meds and pain-killers.

So now she feels as though she's gonna have to move back to NJ so she can get treatments. meds, etc. Breaks my heart because she feels so alone out there. I tried to see if I could get her on our insurance if she became my dependent, but that won't work either. Our insurance only covers our children.
