Appears to be a gray shirt/delayed enrollment situation. I feel for the kid, but business is business. When Nick Saban is signing all 4 and 5 stars, and getting them to graduate early, there is really no other option but to kid the very very best players as possible. Its just the way SEC football has gone, for better or worse.

that the consensus number one wide receiver, some kid from Illinois I believe, is announcing today. Could there be a connection?

Sounds like to me though that we must feel pretty good about somebody...

to be asking someone to grayshirt this early. My concern is that we have a number of WRs committed but that Corey Smith (if we hold him) may be the only real impact receiver for next year. Of course, with Austin, he is athletic but EXTREMELY raw. Jones from Eupora is much closer to being ready to contribute at the college level than Austin is. I know we want the kid to be aware of the situation and be fair but its a little early to me to talk grayshirt. Last year we put the grayshirt option on Ducksworth and he got mad and ran off to USM when, in fact, on signing day he would have had a scholly because of the defection of the guy from Port Gibson (name escapes me) that went to Louisiana Tech. That scholarship went on a last second deal to Artimas Samuel who couldn't get qualified anyway.

If MSU really asked him to greyshirt, then its the worst CL top 10 ever....

Im pretty sure he was on the CL top 10 most wanted list which is usually much better than the Dandy Dozen.

When people ask why you can't win with just MS players, this is a good example of why.
