Maybe it's just me but all this hoopla about one game played years ago would not be appealing to a television crowd today. It probably means more to Jackie Sherrill fans than anyone else...and it is reminiscent of Dontae Walker and all that stuff...good try though..thx.

I know this will sound stupid, but hope its somewhat cold that day just to have a little feeling from that game. Now that I said this, it will be 84 degrees.

I have to disagree. While I could really careless about painting the field, doing something like this will get the attention of a lot people around the country. You know it would be on Sportscenter. It's the same concept as #HAILSTATE in the endzone. It is creative and gains the attention that the marketing department is after. Also, it was quite a rarity to have that much snow on NYE in Shreveport, LA. It was one of the best bowl game's of that year, too. It was talked about a lot during that time. Just doing this would help many college football enthusiasts remember that game.

Why are you guys making such a big deal out the Independence Bowl?

Good Lord, it's one of the worst bowls around and at the time you were in it, it was one of the bottom 2 or 3 bowls. You've been to much better bowls since then and will go to a much better bowl this year. So why is this bowl game so glorified here? So it snowed. Big deal. It's still a bowl game in Shreveport.

I just hope the out come is the same with a big win by the Dawgs.

Would be cool if one of the networks replayed the original game some time before the rematch. The Snow Bowl was one of the best MSU college games I've watched.

It was an excellent football game played in abnormal conditions. Any more retarded questions? Maybe you'll ask why the 1984 Boston College - Miami game is so popular. Just a regular season game. They play each other every year, after all, and Boston College is nothing special.

Miami was the defending national champs. Flutie won the Heisman. Every college

football fan remembers that game as one of the defining moments in the history of the sport. Not a soul outside of Starkville or College Station remembers a lower tier bowl game from that year. That was actually a DOWN year for State in that era. You won the west 2 years before and won 10 games the year before the Independence Bowl. Making that comparison is ridiculous. You guys have been doing such a good job with marketing the last several years that I just don't get this.

Reasons why we are doing this:

1.) It more than just snowed, it had near white-out conditions in the Deep South on New Year's Eve for what is usually a lowly bowl game.
2.) It was the first time Sherrill coached against his former team.
3.) And that former team was Texas A&M--duh--you know, the new team in the SEC West for the first time in 20 years.
4.) State and A&M have many shared backgrounds, former coaches, academic structure, etc., so it reflects on a memorable moment between the two.
5.) It is still one of the highest rated non-New Year's Day bowls on ESPN ever.
6.) It will apparently piss you off, make you irritable, and inflame the gritty sand in your ******.

There, anything else?

It's not even the highest rated Indy Bowl. And I'd love to see a list of the

highest-rated non-NYD ESPN bowls of all time.

Also, this board should finally just put a huge banner at the top that reads "FANS AND QUESTIONS FROM FANS OF OTHER SCHOOLS ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. IF YOU WERE HERE DURING THE FIRST SEVERAL YEARS OF THIS BOARD AND GOT ALONG WITH EVERYONE, IT DOESN'T MATTER. WE HAVE BECOME THE PEOPLES UNIVERSITY AND BEEN ANNEXED BY MULLENGRAD. THE STREETS WILL FLOW WITH THE BLOOD OF THE DISLOYAL."

You people can't even be civil to those who are civil to you. Enjoy your Indy Bowl celebration and glorification of a .500 coach who left your program in shambles and on probation. All hail Jackie who paved way for glorious uprising of the University of People!
