Scotts Lawn Service too weedy for me

Any of you guys have better luck with Scotts Lawn Service than I did? I thought they could kill actively growing weeds, and was even told that they could come back between treatments to do so if needed. But after a month with pretty much no weeds appearing to die, I phoned them, but they just sent someone out to do the "2nd" treatment of my plan, barely a month since the 1st treatment! When I phoned them I was told, among other things, that I could kill the weeds quicker because I can use more chemicals, that they don't guarantee to kill the weeds (at least on my maintenance plan, or maybe all), and that they don't have a money-back guarantee. Weeds were the reason I got the lawn service to begin with. So, for the time being at least, I'm back to being my own lawn guy.

I'm sure some of you have had good service from Scotts. But, what Lawn Services rank high on this board?

I'm not familiar with fescue grass but I found everything on what to apply to Bermuda yard online. I'm sure there is a site or forum for fescue

I used to do mine. Go to the local co-op and they will give you everything you need. Use Green King now to treat my yard. They do a great job.

I got some msma 6plus from the co-op. Hope that does the trick. I was surprised that Scotts couldn't knock it down.

Be careful of lawn services, I hired one a couple of years ago and he succeeded in charging me a lot of money and killing most of my lawn.

TruGreen killed my fescue lawn almost overnight a few years ago. I use a local guy now (not a national chain) and he does a really good job.

I just dropped Scotts after trying them for a year. I didn't want a perfect lawn, just help controlling weeds and it look decent. I never any substantial results like I would when I spray it myself. These are the excuses I heard multiple times:

They can't spray at as high of a rate as I can so it takes more treatments to kill weeds.

The next treatment will get the weeds you have now. Last treatment was for other type weeds.

We didn't pre emerge in November so that's why I have weeds now even though they pre emerged twice in Feb.

Not much you can do for poa annua once your bermudagrass comes out. Best time to control it is a preemerge in the fall or spray it with roundup in the spring while the Bermuda is still dormant.

If you can find some MSMA, that will do the trick. It's a little harder to find but you can find it.
