AT&T Uverse.

I hated "the phone company" for decades. But AT&T finally did something right. With land line phones going away, they had to get better or die. They got a lot better.

This. Your tv should already be digital, so hook them up and watch old-school style.

I have a 10 inch portable, rechargeable TV that is digital with built antennae. It kicks *** when grilling in the backyard. Good a couple hours in charge but can also be plugged in. Only problem is that the antennae doesn't pick up well when far outside of a city.

If you live within 50 miles of Jackson you should be able to use rabbit ears and pick them up over the air. Trees block the signal somewhat, and so does you house, but it still should be fine. Have you tried that?

I have an antenna in my attic that I use as a backup for local programming in cases such as this, or Dish is down for whatever reason, bad weather, etc.

Agreed. I've had great success with uverse...and have yet to have a single "dispute" issue between them and cable companies. Given that they ponied up immediately for FXX and the SECnetwork recently, it doesn't appear that there will be much issue with them in that regard. They are the only provider already on board for the SECNetwork launch in August, and I imagine the "big 3" will push it to the very brink before agreeing to anything. They will find out next July/August how easy it is to lose customers in the southeast when they can't watch their team(s) play football...or otherwise are locked out of getting available SEC content.

It gives you the options of satellite -- with the channel changing ability of cable. That 2-3 second delay was something that always bugged me about directv when trying to flip back and forth between multiple football games...
