2012- 3.2 runs/game. Gave up 5.9 runs/game

2013- 2.8 runs/game. Giving up 4.7 runs/game.

Why are we losing? The offense isn't pulling weight.

So when you lose you don't score as many runs as the other team...Got it!!!

The stats definitely point to that. I really don't see how you can blame the pitching at this point.

the only caveat is that we are 3 SEC series in against 3 of the better teams in the conference. But it's the SEC - everyone is good.

Exactly. Our woeful offense averaged 4.3 runs per in league play last season, wins and losses. If we are only giving up 4.7 in our losses, that definitely tells me that the arms are giving us chances to win the game. That's 4.7 in losses to a loaded LSU team, a series on a tee ball field, and a road series against the preseason #1 team. Gotta score more runs.

And that's not even taking into account ERA. That's total runs/game correct?

I totally agree, but even if the offense really picks up the pace, it'll probably only average 5 runs or so. If the pitching staff really gets its game together, it can be lights out.

While I do think the offense is the major problem, those numbers will be skewed bc they were over the whole sec season not just against three top sec teams.

Offense is

def not pulling their share, overall. However, facing 3 of the top 4 pitching teams in the league (2 on the road) will do that I guess.

According to your own statistics...

..since the Central Arkansas series, this pitching staff has walked approximately 70 batters. Yet you are blaming this team's woes on the lack of offense? Way to ignore what your own data is telling you.

I wasn't aware of the rule change where the team with the least number of walks given up was declared winner.

No rule change...

...since American baseball has been played, a steadfast rule is the team with the shittiest pitching will always suck. And the way this pitching staff walks batters, it has lead to the only place it can lead to: Sucking.

2013- 2.8 runs/game. Giving up 4.7 runs/game.

Where are you getting your numbers here? According to the stats sheet in 2013 YTD we have scored 39 runs on 75 hits runs in 9 SEC games for an average of 4.3 RPG on 8.3 hits

Our opponents have scored 35 runs on 69 hits in 9 games for an average of 3.8 RPG on 7.6 hits.

The telling stat to me is 42 walks in the 9 SEC games and particularly the 7-8 surrendered in just two innings that happened to be the very first innings of two consecutive pivotal game 3s.

Reading comprehension. Im looking at the losses. Why we are losing. Hence the thread title.

Problem with looking at the overall averages like you are is they ignore the fact that 18 of our 39 runs came in just 2 games. Those 2 games are making us look a lot better at the plate than we really have been.
