Huge ...

From the article ...

Putting that TV money into perspective, $40 million in revenue would have made you the 62st largest athletic department in the country last year. Using Mississippi State as an example, the SEC Network money that Outkick projects the Bulldogs will land in three years, would take State, the lowest revenue producing school in the SEC, from the 49th largest athletic program in the country to around the 30th largest.

One would think that adding an additional $20M to our budget will have a bigger impact than it would at Bama or Florida. 100% increase at State vs ~30% increase at Bama.

Interesting side note...

Saw this on a Southern Miss site ...

Compare the Fox article to this Gannet Article printed 6-24-14...

"Part of that is due to the lucrative television contract C-USA has with Fox and CBS. The two television companies agreed to pay Banowksy's league $84 million over a six-year period. $14M a year. "There is more revenue flowing into the system than ever," Banowsky testified."

Our league has a TV deal for $84M for 6 years and the SEC deal will approach $4 billion over the same time frame.

Yeah, but it's not like we were using money as an excuse beyond the SEC. This is sort of like recruiting rankings, we may be top 25, but we are still at the bottom of the conference.

While we'll still be at or near the bottom of the SEC in revenue, the $20M boost in revenue will make a lot more of an impact on our $62M budget than it will on Alabama's $143M budget.

Not to bust your bubble but we had ~$63M of revenue in 2013 so adding $20M would yield an increase of about 30% but to stay with your example Florida had ~$130M + $20M = about 15% increase. Bama had ~$144M + $20M = about 14% increase (this deal takes them to #2 in the country right behind Texas)

Ultimately, this deal helps us the most percentage wise but our biggest competition is getting some help as well.

Could make us the 30th largest atheltic program in the country. That's amazing. Cant use money as an excuse anymore.

Let us not forget the additional bowl revenue we've got coming -- which will probably average about $7mil more than in the past.
Let us not also forget about the stadium expansion that will bring in an additional $5-10 mil more than in the past.

I've been saying it basically since the network was announced and certainly since the pricing structure was announced -- for all intents and purposes, we are a $100mil athletics dept right now and will be top 25 in the country if not this year next year in terms of revenue...

If you really want to get wild with the numbers -- start pretending that we collect on all the $25k pledges over 5 years for TTF fund to get priority seating. Then the numbers get totally stupid in a big hurry....
