As I understand it, viewers will have more baseball games available than we currently have. There will be less games on tv (due to no more CSS/fox sports games), but nearly all of the games will be available through SEC Network's online platform (similar to "watchespn," but only available to subscribers of SEC Network). Is this right?

I'm slightly scared the new contract is going to be somewhat disappointing. I will watch things online, but I'd prefer to be able to use my DVR, etc. and I think more games than people expect are going to be online only.
That's a fair point about DVR. But even if every conference baseball game was online only, it would be better than the current system (to me).

I have the same concerns for football. I will change carriers if necessary to get the SEC Channel, but I am still afraid I won't get to see as many State games as I am used to seeing. Just call me paranoid. If anybody out there knows anything to calm my apprehensions please do so.

So if our choices are:
5 games on TV and 8 games on ESPN3
vs.
1 game on TV and 46 games on ESPN3
Give me option #2 everyday of the week and a double-header on Sunday.

Oh, so this whole time I just figured the SECNetwork would be part of the overall ESPN digital platform. So on the TV there would be a channel(s), but online you would go to ESPN3/WATCHESPN. I figured this since the SECNetwork is sharing a damn building with ESPNU and all the SEC games have been available at least online on 3/WATCH for a couple seasons now.
This is why it is important to have your cable and internet provider with access to SEC Network. The SEC digital network will be separate from ESPN3. It will give SEC baseball fans access to every game in the conference....and no more Hail State TV needed for baseball.
I have DirecTV and Comcast internet. If Comcast were to accept a deal with the SEC Network and not DirecTV I'm okay with that because of the digital platform which will have all the games on there....football, baseball, basketball.
If your internet provider doesn't get the SEC Network then you are screwed come baseball season.

With football, I think all of the games will be on TV, with maybe one possible exception when we play a 1-AA (FCS) team. This is so because you have games every week on CBS, ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, and the SEC Network (no need for CSS or fox sportsouth). But with baseball, that will not be the case. You will get prob a game on ESPN U and SEC Network every week, but the rest will be online. That is my understanding anyway.
I hear ya MadDawg. But take this year for example, we have 12 (I think) baseball games on TV and 4-5 on ESPN 3. Would you rather have 2-3 games on TV and the rest online? Maybe so (I probably would). I guess I'm just being greedy because I want to keep the current games I am getting on TV.
Right. The SEC online "digital" network will be separate from ESPN 3/Watch ESPN. All of the games that are currently available on Hailstate TV/Rebel Vision/Geaux Zone/etc... will now be on the SEC online "digital" network. This is fine, but only if your internet provider carries the SEC online "digital" network. Otherwise, its just Jim and Bart on the radio because you can no longer watch on Hailstate TV/Rebel Vision/Geaux Zone/etc...
