You Kamario obsessers need to chill. You know what happens if Shapen gets hurt? A replica of last year, except better defense.

If you want him to come in close yardage, better convince Lebby to let him throw it some. Because if not SEC teams gonna stuff that. OL isn’t good enough. This isn’t 2014 or 2017/2018.

Thinking that the backup quarterback is better than the starter and the cure for what ails us is simply in the DNA of the Mississippi State fan. It is basic instict. You can't change it anymore than you can keep a duck from wanting to beside by the water.
You’re probably right.

Don’t think there’s really a controversy at this point. Let’s revisit this in a few weeks if we lose to Florida whilst Shapen really struggles, or something along those lines.

You mean like they stuffed us after 1st and G in OT? Short yardage at the goalline eliminates most of the playbook and reads. Kamario needs to be in there.

Exactly. You’re not going to score with regular plays there. But Kamario brings a huge wild card into the situation. The defense has to respect the threat of him faking the handoff & running wild in them. And he’s much more of a threat in a run/pass option in that situation.

Until he puts more passes on film he’s literally no threat at all.

I think shapen is a good qb when he has time, but our line will not always provide that. He got rocked several times Saturday. That’ll mess any qb up.

His deep throws are pretty freaking close most of the time.

He’s going to have to progress through reads quicker for us to be successful and be more willing to dump it or throw it away.

Kamario will be a good one and needs more involvement, but isn’t the guy right now. Hell of an athlete though.

I've been an advocate for Kamario to come in on special packages. This is in no way disparaging Shapen. He's one of my favorite QB's. Why can't we play both when the timing is right? We play two RB'S and I don't hear anything about a RB controversy. Besides, Kamario needs real game reps to prepare for next year.

I think that's in every football fan. If the QB1 is not perfect, there is always asking for QB2 to step up.

I don't think Kamario is better. I just think that IF Lebby is going to use him, I would prefer for him to hand the ball off every once in a while so it's not 100% obvious that he's gonna keep it.

What happened to quick slant patterns or screen plays? The first time I saw us run them successfully was under Leach. Have we abandoned them for that reason?

If K had come in and lead us down the field that included some nice downfield passes, then there could be a controversy. But they did not happen, therefore there is no controversy. K is TRUE freshman.

This is an annual thing for Mississippi State fans. I'm old enough to remember this going all the way back to Wayne Madkin and Matt Wyatt. The only time I don't recall this is Dak's Junior/Senior years. I'm sure there were people saying it then too; especially after the Alabama loss.

Even further. First I clearly remember it was when Todd Jordan was there, and the fans wanted Derrick Taite. Then they wanted Wyatt. I believe Rob Morgan was in here too. Then Madkin. Then Fant. Then Omarr.

I know Tony Shell started for 3 years, I'm sure he took a beating.

Are you suggesting that all of our SPS football wisdom is not being incorporated into Lebby's game plan?****

I can go back further. People wanted Orlando Lundie over Don Smith at various points.

Fact is, we are one play (LT "Ole")from being 5-0 with wins over two top 15 teams with Shapen.

Um, do you really think Lebby isn't running them because CML ran them???

I like Shapen but man he took a beating Saturday! I do think Lebby should have a package for both back up QB's and put them in the game one time each to give Shapen a rest.

Not creating a QB controversy, but I do think we got the short end of the stick on our "trade" with Baylor. The biggest issue is Shapen barely cracks 200 yards passing per game regularly.
