Literally as simple as covid made people feel like the world was turned upside down and Dak liked it / was paid to wear it so it became stupid popular.

Flag flown upside down means "SOS, foreign invasion or serious distress". I assume it means the fan is distressed which fits perfectly with the SPS population!

I already went down this rabbit hole when US Amateur champ Jose Luis Ballester wire an upside-down Sun Devils cap at The Masters.
I read up on the whole trend....and I still dont get.
Some fans said it was a disrespectful hat for him to wear at The Masters. I think it was more disrespectful when he peeled in Rae's Creek on 13. Those crazy Spaniards...

I haven't been asked to make one of those yet. Its just a trendy thing, like the puffy embroidered letters or keeping the tag on the hat.
Dak wore an upside down DALLAS hat that made the trend take off.
I believe the apparel company that started making them was based in Dallas.
