This is not a flame so if your easily offended you may wish to exit.

From reading the posts on your board this past week I have noticed something much different than any other message board I've visited recently.

Many of your fans write and say things as if they are personally responsible for the tradition and success that Nebraska has historically experienced. Sort of a "tough guy" attitude, with a condescending and otherwise arrogant tone to the posts.

Being a passionate and proud fan is something that many fan bases have. But with a large percentage of you guys, you write posts and say things as if you have been the ones in the weight room, in the film room, on the practice field...as if you are the ones putting the blood, sweat and tears into the outcomes. It's kind of sad, especially when 18-22 year old kids are putting forth the effort, only to see some fans talking crap, saying that Iowa needs to earn their respect (why would Iowa football players have to earn anything from your fans?), Iowa is your little brother, etc....

So...in conclusion, I ask all of you, what kind of a grown man does it take to pump up his chest, talk trash and act entitled to the success and well earned achievements of other 18-22 year old men. Is it restricted to those among you that wear another man's jersey? (by the way, Google that, it's not cool, and you are getting laughed at).

So there it is...be a good fan and enjoy the success your players have brought to your university, but don't be that guy that acts like they had something to do with it (unless of course you did). Otherwise, you look small and sad.

Some of the people posting here have been the ones in the weight room, film room, and on the practice field. Of course the fans had something to do with the success, 90k will show up to support a team that has lost 6 times. Heck, I wasn't even born the last time the team lost 6 games.

So what you're saying is that being a hardcore fan should happen. We take great pride in our program. A lot of fans from other programs don't understand that. From your statement it sounds like the only ones that can take pride in the program are. the ones who actually put on the uniform. We take great pride in our history and success. Has that been lacking lately, somewhat yes, but we stick through these times knowing that success is right around the corner again.

Perception is an interesting concept. You ask " what kind of grown man does it take to pump up his chest, talk trash and act entitled to the success and well earned achievements of other 18-22 year old men" ? That is exactly the perception most Husker fans have of the Iowa guys that have been here the last 2 weeks. So many of you act like the world owes you something. You come here and try to start fights, flame, troll and talk crap for the last 2 weeks. Perhaps if most of you practiced what you preached you would be treated with respect rather than disdain. Just a thought.

How many sell outs does Nebraska have?I'd say the fans have something to do with it.

Yes cause we take NU football personal! Bottom line is a lot of us grew up watching or listening to Husker football EVERY Saturday! It has been ingrained into our lives since day one. We all feel we have a personal and a lot of us have financial investment in our program. It's just how most Husker fans have been raised, kinda a right of passage from generation to generation! We have four sports seasons in Nebraska. Winter and summer conditioning, recruiting season, spring ball and finally the actual Football season!

You've basically asked the same question in 2 different threads now. It's getting old . I'm thinking you really don't care about getting an answer.

Oh, you watched and listened while other men obtained success...got it.

Again, being a fan is one thing, just stop acting like you did it. You don't own this...other men do.

The fact that money and commitment from the fans has helped build the tradition of excellence and a top program does give the fans part ownership in the success. It is that dedication that is a huge part of many top programs success. I always respect the kids who play for Neb and give their all, a tough year doesn't change that. I see great things ahead and will continue to make several 1200+ mile road trips a yr to share the environment and tradition that has been built, with my kids. Looking for a well played game and we will see who wins! GBR

10 different people have given yo answers to your questions, including posters from other teams. But since it's not the answer you want to hear everyone is wrong. Take it elsewhere.

I think this could be stated for both fan base. A lot depends on what fan site you are on. I am old and love the game but it seems that each fan base gets defensive if an opponent fan comes on their site. I am not defending anyone here. But it is interesting when you start a post wanting to actually discuss the game, you really do not get many replies. But on post that start bashing each other teams or fans you will get pages. So is discussing the game really important or just pumping your your chest. This is not directed at any fan base specifically, just a thought.

Have a great Thanksgiving and here's to a great game and no injuries.

Husker nation is wee bit larger than the 44 players who make up the 2-deep. Get over it

What type of man writes a passive aggressive post on a opponents board thinking the entire fan base should change their entire culture based on one mans perception after reading message boards for a week?

Iowa fan, that's who.

We claim the privilege of cheering for Nebraska according to the dictates of our own conscious and allow all men the same privilege. Let them cheer how, whom and what they man.
