Serious question - Who actually wants us to make Tourney and why?

I have read this board this morning, and all the obvious and warranted frustration. Sprinkled in there is some talk about if we win at Auburn, we can still make it, or if we lose we may be a bubble team. <div>
</div><div>After watching last night, (well and every other night) and the total frustration, I am not sure I want us to make it. Why would I want to watch us go get embarrassed as another one and done team? Really, why would I? I just don't see the upside to being able to squeak our way in, knowing that we are going to suck when we get there. Hardly enjoyable. And my dumb *** will sit there and watch it too, instead of going out and doing something more enjoyable, because I don't have the will power to stay away. </div>

After last night, I think we are done but I still want us to make the tourney and do well.

I agree that we won't do anything there, but at the same time, we don't make the tournament often enough to not care whether we make it or not. To me, the only upside of not making it is that Stans would be probably be gone.

Coaches can still be canned even after making the NCAAs. Hell, one of the announcers for our train wreck last night is a coach who was canned in just such a way! He had just taken them to 2 in row, actually.
...of course Wake isnt exactly advertising that decision as a great one right now.

So if you want Stans gone, there is precedent to still be able to reach the NCAAs and fire a coach.

Its beyond me howa fanwould actively root for MSU to have a bad season.

tattoo that says "17 Coach34" on his chest with a hand flipping the bird below it.

I am mad as hell about the way we look as a team but I still don't want us to lose just so that we can get a new coach. If Stans can make it happen, I'd be happier than if he can't. I think that is the thing that a lot of people miss when they read the pack. They think that most of us just want a new coach for the sake of having someone different. I just want a coach that wins, who engages the fanbase, and who has a team that looks like they play hard as hell every single game. I'd much rather that coach be Rick. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be where we are right now.

But, I have no illusions that will happen. I realize that it is small sample, but I was surprised by the number of people in one particular thread who break things, including t.v.'s,, and that actually turn the game off at half time, or at the end of regulation. I really don't understand how you turn it off at the end of regulation, if you have already hung on that long. I watch to the bitter end regardless, and I plan my day around these games.<div>
</div><div>I included the "and why" because for me, my heart can't hardly take the stress I put myself through. Some may feel that it would be a good way to get rid of Stans. I'm not the first person to insinuate that being a one and done in the big dance is actually worse than going NIT and winning some games. </div>

I am not on the fire Stans wagon. However, I would like him to start running an actual offense. Or at least a play or two that exposes the opponents weakness. Like teams running backside screens at Sidney. I do not necessarily believe we can do better than Stans, although I do believe he needs an good x's and o's assistant (that he will listen to). <div>
</div><div>But, the reality is that this team is not likely to do well in the Tourney. Period. It seems we would be better off winning some games in the NIT.

I'd love for this team to win the next 5 games and win the SEC T, then at least make the Sweet 16.

They started out strong, but lost some bad ones in the second half of conference play and ended up .500<div>
</div><div>Then, out of the blue, they won the Big East Tournament, and then rattled off 6 straight wins and won the national title.</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>Now there's probably a 1/10,000 chance of that happening to us this year, but of course I'm going to hope for it. Hell, even if we're a 12 seed, we're two "upsets" (probably against equally or less talented teams) from making the Sweet 16.</div>

I've thought about it during some games in all the major sports over the years.. saying things like "We should just lose this game to bring about change or new coach or whatever", but when it comes down to it, I want to win every single f'n thing we play and do. Things will eventually play itself out in the end anyway
