Still a little uncertainty, but for MS the primary threat looks to be damaging winds. The tornado threat looks to be primarily in AR at this time, but there is a low end chance of one in the northern part of the state. As is the case with most of our severe events, the timing looks to be after dark.

We'll have a couple of chasers out and we'll have our Skycams monitored. See what the ones we have in the NW part of the state pick up. As always, if anybody would like to sponsor or donate to our cameras we'd greatly appreciate it. We've got a few new spots to put cameras now as soon as we get the funding. Costs, on average, around $1,700 to put a camera up and another $600/yr to keep it operational. That turns into real money in a hurry to a small nonprofit.

You guys are really chasing this? Seems pretty low likelihood.

I’m not trying to argue with the weather because y’all obviously keep up with it even more, but I really don’t understand why they’re such a big area that the SPC has drown out. It looks very meager at best.

We've got guys that'll chase a heavy dew. Especially after several months of no action.
Oh I get this...especially when we haven't had a severe threat to speak of for a while.

We went about five years without a drop of rain in NE Mississippi.

Pretty unusual to have severe weather in October. But it's not long until November.

Kinda off topic, but a question for you weather guys, is Tim Wallace still at State? I took an intro to Meteorology course and he was the instructor. That guy cracked me up.

I doubt I'm out chasing this event. I'll probably stay behind the scenes helping watch and move the Skycams and answering questions that come into our Facebook page.

Just planted my food plots ahead of this weather forecast. I don’t want anyone to have any damage but some significant rain in Noxubee County would be appreciated!

"We've got guys that'll chase a heavy dew." And I for one appreciate that......just wish you guys could get more chasers from the central part of the state to join you.

We've got guys that won't hesitate to go down there. I've chased that part of the state several times. Had a tornado near Pickens pretty much touch down on top of my truck a few years ago.

Oh it's far from an exciting system. I think the large swath is for two reasons.

1.Timing is not 100% nailed down so there's a larger area that could be affected and they're just covering everybody to play it safe.

2. There's also a few factors that are still in play (timing is affecting them) and if it ends up all hitting perfectly, it could end up a little bigger event than current thinking is anticipating. Now the odds of that happening are low, but again...better safe than sorry.

It looks like there's some high wind in this storm system. I would be careful even if you don't have a warning out.
