A pretty nasty system is forecast to come through MS and AL on Christmas Day. The potential is there for some strong tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds. This will especially be the case for all areas within a 50 mile radius of a line from Natchez to Meridian. Here's the link to the Storm Prediction Center and the NWS Jackson site so folks can read the discussion on what they have to say: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html http://www.srh.noaa.gov/jan/
With this being a Christmas Day event, this is being very highly overlooked by many. So please pass the word around to friends, family, and anyone else you can think of. With Christmas being a travel day for a lot of people, it could get really ugly if people aren't aware of the weather dangers. Obviously the biggest threat here is tornados, which the SPC says could be long in track and duration. Wind damage from this could also be substantial. Just wanted to put this out there for everyone because it could be a very dangerous situation on Tuesday with it being Christmas. Hope everyone stays safe.
