No, and I don't think that's what they're saying. Ole Miss has a good team. You do have to wonder how the game would go if they could not use the loophole of "injuries."
I see it less of a "loophole" and prefer that we use the more accurate term, "bittch move".
The threat of getting caught will need to far exceed the benefit of not.
The argument against this is that players will continue to play hurt risking greater injury rather than risk costing their team a timeout or penalty.
They will find a way around that though. Any time they want a timeout they will sub in their 3rd string kicker and he will fake a cramp coming on the field. They will have dedicated fakers standing by the coach ready to come in at any time needed
But is it worth risking the opponent taking advantage of a 3rd string kicker being on the field just for him to fake an injury a play later? No one would trot a player out onto the field and have them immediately fake an injury. Lane isn’t THAT brazen is he?
Yep. Pretty easy to tell when someone is taking a dive with the tape. Every time it happens fine the HC and his position coach. How much? I dunno. Enough to make you not want to do it. Say, 0.25% of your base salary? That would be like 25k for Lane per dive.
I want Lebby to go down with a fake injury on the way to greet Lane pre-game. Be even better if the whole team fell with him.
It won't be a third team kicker, it'll be second or third team player who does play, but is not a starter. That way if an injured player had to set out a quarter, half or whatever, it won't be a starter sitting out.
