Has any player ever been drafted after not playing a single second of college basketball while being eligible to do so? I know some have not played much due to injury (Kylie Irving comes to mind), but don’t think anyone will have ever fallen into sharpes scenario.
I was thinking about that too! The answer is no, he will be the first.

Just enrolled early to collect that NIL money and bolt after the season.

And Cal fell for the bait. His handler is full of ****, and just trying to disguise it.

I bet part of the deal was he would get part of the NIL check.
Cal didn’t fall for anything. He knew the deal. I’m not sure the NIL sponsor did, but if so then I guess it’s all good. Cal gets to claim another lottery pick. His self proclaimed biggest achievement.

I can hear Adam Silver now…

“And with the 6th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select…Shaedon Sharpe, from the end of the bench, at the University of Kentucky!” 🤣
And Cal will be slobbering all over him in the green room, pretending that "coaching" him in practice merits adding Sharpe to his NBA totals.

Perhaps a different take. Despite what his HS coach has said, I am not sure anyone knew for sure he was going to be eligible for the draft. given that, the plan was for him to sit and play next year to be ready for the ‘23 draft. Plan B was also a real possibility he would be ruled eligible foe the ‘22 draft and that may have been the chance Cal took. I think most of us would take it too. Maybe get the best HS player for a year or maybe never but even if he doesn’t play still get the positive press. This makes sense as to why his handlers are being so positive as well.

That stands on it’s own, but as far as this year it’s further possible that since he is now eligible that his group doesn’t want him to play this late in the season as there is nothing to gain.
I know many think Cal just signed him for another draft pick, but the scenario above is a very likely scenario it just doesn’t fit the Cal is an idiot/ only cares about the draft, etc narrative.

I would say he cares about winning as much or more than anyone on this site, taking care of players and helping them get to the league is good for him, the team, good for winning and good for UK. Remember when he says many of the things he says he isn’t talking to you he is talking to his current players, HS players and their parents.
Competitive coaches in every sport are all buying into players first because its the new means to an end. Having the best players being the “end”. Many of you on here seem to want Bob Knight as a coach.

At least Hardy and those guys had the sack to play in the G League.

Sharpe is just going to hide his way into the draft while using the UK brand to load up on NIL cash.

Cal is going to get lit up for this one, and rightfully so.

Idk I feel like sharpe is gonna play at some point. I mean seriously if cal wanted to plácate the handlers and make fans happy he’d put sharpe out there. Sharpe pulls a hamstring, done until draft. Next

i think he didn’t play him last night but I feel he planned to play him. He hastily put dontaie Allen in for a stretch in the first half and it seemed strange but I think the game sharpe comes in will be after all other guys in front of him have played. He will work his way up and the minutes will grow. I think any game now sharpe has a chance to play.

There’s a better chance of sharpe hitting the portal and playing elsewhere next year than ever playing a minute for UK. He is 100% going to the NBA. Those who try and and rationalize if his handlers are being honest route need only see how his draft eligibility scenario played out.

He was never playing here and cal knew that which I have a huge problem with.

Speculation

Brother I am in no form of denial. You are in denial if you think you know sh*t. I don't know sh*t, you don't know sh*t, none of us know sh*t.

So to say Calipari knowingly brought the kid in with him having NO intention of ever playing here is called speculation.

I hope he does play, I'm sure you do too. If you've read any of my posts I thought he would play yesterday and if he doesn't by mid month then I struggle to see him playing this year at all.

I only care about #9. If UK and Cal have propped Sharpe up to the fan base as a puppet who will ultimately go to the NBA having never played here I won't like it one bit. But assuming that is the case is speculation plain and simple.

Man you are like a scorned ex-wife with this entire Sharpe fiasco........
Was recruited for next years team to begin with, has made his plans clear from the start (to play next year), if he just so happens to play this year ok, he played, and if not then so be it. WGAF! We are a top 5 team right now firing on all cylinders, we do not need this kid to play! If he plays, great! If not, no harm done. I just dont get the obsession with him playing after coming in mid season, been here a month, been practicing maybe 2 wks, and also a reclass. ( which everyone bitches about saying they are not ready) The kid is obviously not ready! Let it be, sheesh.

I apologize if this thread or poll exists, but I am going on record to say that Sharpe plays for the Cats next year. What do you all think? I will eat crow if wrong and I'm still alive come next October.
Voted yes- just my faith that people are telling the truth. If he leaves, then being labeled a liar means nothing to some

Yes, No, or “The plan is.” Tells a lot. Hope he figures out who’s going to draft him so he can get a head start on learning their plays, I hear that can take quite some time.
I mean when guys are traded to another team they sometimes have to sit out months trying to learn the offense.

We do have the luxury of knowing that sharpe is sitting on the bench and can play anytime, yet cal is not calling his number. In what part of Cals tenure here as he ever wanted a top 10 draft pick just sitting the bench and not contributing? I’ll give it to you that it’s speculation but it’s also highly probable speculation based on how these events have unfolded. First sharpe wasn’t in good enough shape, then he didn’t know the plays, then his intensity wasn’t where it needed to be. I’m mean C’mon how much BS does cal need to spoon feed people before they open their eyes.

I think Kobe and Lebron fit into that catagory. Both straight out of h.s. May be many more..

No talking about players who never attended college, obviously that list is quite long before the one and done rule was put into place. Speaking of players who were on a college team but never played and declared for the draft.

It's a FACT that Calipari STATED that he had no plans to play Sharpe this year.

Want a link? Or do you want to keep digging the hole deeper?

Him not playing this year vs not playing at all are two totally different things. Not sure what your point is. The insinuation was made Cal knew Sharpe would never play for UK and that is pure speculation as the story has been fro day 1 that he was coming here early to get a jump start with program for '22-'23.

Sharpe, his HS coach and Cal have all said the same thing regarding this year. I don't need a link.

As it stands right now he's not eligible for the draft he has to apply for a waiver and he might get it but as of now he's not eligible .
