Define "uproar"? I didn't say anything so I didn't roar. Where did the 85% number come from? In the old days I had to work on Friday and hated when it got moved. I didn't "uproar" about it though. How did the fans get so organized so quickly? 85% is amazing! ;)

If we don't start winning the next 2 years, neither one ( SE-HMR) is going to be around in 2020 to say one thing or another about playing on Black Friday in the first place

Can we just all agree that the fundamental question surrounding the games thanksgiving weekend boils down to 2 options

1. Would we rather lose on the Friday after Thanksgiving and have the Saturday and Sunday to lick our wounds and recover before going back to work Monday.

Or

2. Would we rather lose on Saturday thereby still being able to enjoy Friday. Our likely abysmal performances also have a better chance to be buried in the multitude of games played on Saturday rather than having a beat down be a feature game on Friday

<sarcasm>

4-3 on Fridays since 2010. Maybe there is a decision to make more often than some people think. Winking

Why is it so hard to think that the fan and press uproar helped him to change his mind? If the fans didn't care one way or the other he's not sending in a petition. The game will be on Saturday. But now that 85% of fans want the Black Friday game he's changing his mind. Good on him.

This is Nebraska and the fans, who are astute followers of the game, are the ones who knock. This isn't Wisconsin.
Please provide a single poll that points to your 85% claim. Thanks. I am sure a stand-up preachers wife like yourself would not just make things up to fit your narrative.

Nebraska should always play the day after Thanksgiving in my opinion. It has been that way for a long time and should stay that way.

I have no idea why the argument that 24 hours does not matter cannot be argued the other way. I personally would rather be the last team playing the last game of every conference season to know exactly what is at stake.
But in the end I really do not care. I just watch. Husker fans that think this is "tradition are using that as an excuse to attack the current regime. If they really want to be upset they should demand it be on Thanksgiving, and should be playing OU.

That day is a holiday at work because of that game, no more game and I fear no more 4 day thanksgiving weekend.

You keep missing the fact that Shawn and Mike said they don't want it. So why would the Athletic Director's office send a petition they don't want? Unless, "something" helped change their minds in the last 48 hours.
They did not say they didn't want it. They gave reasons why they felt Saturday was more desirable. Hell I hate Friday games. I've always had to work. When Black Friday started I lived in Omaha at the time. We could listen on the radio (transistor). Hell I didn't get Black Friday off till I moved to Iowa

Personally I don't like it on Friday. Lots of people have to or need to work on Friday. I've missed a lot of Black Friday games for that reason. For people traveling for the game, it would mean that most Husker fans would have to travel on Thanksgiving day and try to find rooms in Minneapolis for that night. That sucks. SE changed his mind. Good for him. I would rather have a guy trying to be somewhat responsive to the fan base than somebody completely oblivious to the world. Too much angst over something that isn't that big of a deal. Huskers play, I try to watch.

This makes way too much sense. And maybe the team would get to celebrate the actual holiday (terrible thing to think about).
Husker fans would complain if this regime cured Cancer.

Again you fail to read what I wrote and made assumptions.

It doesn't matter right now because a decision didn't need to be made today. The petition to move the game didn't need to be filed September 13, 2017 for a games played in November 2020 and November 2021. You and others assumed that because he and Riley don't like Friday games that he wasn't going to take into account traditions etc and actually file the petition. All he said that was in his perfect world, the games at the end of the season would be played on Saturday. What he didn't say was that he was refusing to play games on Black Friday. But because he didn't do things on your time line, you made a freaking federal case out of it. YOU and others overreacted to something that didn't need an overreaction.

Anyone have any feedback on what Eichorst is planning to eat for dinner next Thursday?

I heard it's spaghetti with meatballs but Thursday's traditionally been meatloaf day.

If he's not carful, the very fabric of time and space will bust apart at the seams.

Brilliant plan. Have you and the head football coach speak to the press and give a list of reasons why Saturday is better than Friday all the while thinking, "At some point I will file that petition to play the game on Friday."

Why is it so stinking hard to say Shawn wanted to leave the game on Saturday but after hearing from the fans he changed his mind? It makes way more sense then saying, "The guys gave a laundry list of reasons TO THE PRESS of reasons not to play on Friday, but they just haven't had the time to file the petition to play on Friday?" This defense has now moved to the absurd.

SE needs to take a PR refresher.

So the only REAL news is swapping Minny for Iowa as the final game. I was good with that. Iowa sucks.

Indeed he does. I fully get that leaders at times make mistakes in the things they say that require clarification. This is nothing more than a back track due to pressure and not having a true understanding on whats important to their fans/customers. I think Shatel was spot on using the words "tone deaf".
