Shedeur is still 4th string in Cleveland.

Hold up. I’m trying to figure out what to be upset today about. The fact they named him as qb 4 or that he started a preseason game. It’s exhausting keeping up with the anger of the day
They already have his excuses lined up for when he inevitably fails.

He’s being treated like a fifth-round pick. No better, no worse. Stories out of camp say his accuracy has been impressive. But he’s struggled with all the presnap calls and reads. Also that he’s handled himself very professionally and worked hard.

He starts for the Browns tonight at 7pm et, on NFL. At 7:30 there’s another game starting. Since Sanders will be out by then, it’s perfect timing to catch the first couple series of that game. It’ll be my first NFL spectating of the season. Cool beans!

Must have been a slow news day so Stephen Smith decided to manufacture controversy. Pickett and Gabriel are hurt and even the Browns are smart enough to not expose their 40 year old expected starting QB to injury in preseason game #1. That leaves Sanders with the starting nod largely by default not because of some conspiracy.

What a tool Steven A is. Sanders hasn't been getting the reps with 1st team but very few teams are playing their 1st team (or much of it) this week anyway. It'll be mostly 2nd teamers to start with in most games.. Then lower end guys after that. By that logic, then a ton of guys are being set up to fail this week. Not just Shaduer Sanders.

Two on-target throws, one complete, one dropped.

Carolina broadcast crew—a lot more info on Bryce than Shedeur.

Carolina playing mostly starters for at least a couple series.

Browns going with backups nearly across the board.

But hey—it’s football!!

After one quarter—Bryce looked okay. Shedeur looked better than a fifth round pick, but not like a starter, yet.

And I can’t get the 7:30 Commanders game. Darn!

Still hangs onto the ball too long on occasion. But showed good mobility to escape. Looked pretty solid in the second. Browns fans should be encouraged.

Exceeded expectations, especially given his reps were limited until he was the only one available for preseason game 1.

Wasnt perfect. Clearly needs to stop the backwards scrambling and work on his throwaway ball skills. A few throws were off. But the rest was really positive.

With his name and connections he could have a 15 year career just as a backup, with a few spot starts here and there. Not a bad way to make 30 million dollars.
Career backups are generally highly supportive of the starter and helpful in preparation for the week. That doesn’t sound like Shedeur.

Perhaps getting passed through so many rounds may have humbled him but I don't see him grabbing a spot on the 53.

Also, it blows my mind with Fidone getting drafted. The NY Giants could have saved a chunk of cash grabbing him as an UDFA.
They would have had to pay that cash to someone. They weren’t just going to pass on a draft pick.

I think he will be a starter by October. did a lot of things right and missed a lot of easily fixable short passes. ability to learn the game will tell the tale. throw the bs aside and this becomes interesting.

Already arguing with the media. Lol. Buckle up...

There's a sign of growth for Shaduer right there. Last year, he didn't have time to meet with most reporters. One announcer (Ross Tucker) went to talk to him for a routine interview the day before the game. One of Shaduer's reps said that he wasn't available. Ross could see Shaduer f'n around with a buddy about 30 feet away.

Same bad habits. It's funny how people are overreacting to his good performance. It's preseason. Keep in mind, Kenny Pickett looked like the next Joe Burrow two years ago for the Steelers in preseason. Led the team to TDs on every drive he played. Then the regular season started.

I don’t like Deion or his kids . But I think Shedure sticks in Cleveland. Cleveland wasn’t sure if the Oregon kid was physically stable enough for the nFL (appears Maybe not) so they took Shedure the next round. It’s sounds and is stupid to draft that way . But it Cleveland. Enough said!

This is one of those things that really doesn't matter.

Clearly Flacco is not "the answer" but he could get them to be an "okay" team.

Pickett, I mean, come on. That guy is going to be a career backup now, nothing wrong with that, he will make crazy jack.

What you say is very true but let's not act like if he had thrown 3 picks and had a fumble guys wouldn't be killing him like it was a playoff game. Same thing works in reverse but we didn't get to see it because he actually played decent in the game. Better than I thought tbh
