Mount Pleasant might be better than you think. They went unbeaten in their conference but their conference wasn't that strong this year but their two out of conference loses were a one point loss to Concord and a 4 point loss to Jay M. Robinson who is playing Kings Mountain Friday in the 3A third round. Still think Shelby takes this one if they aren't still celebrating this past Fridays win.

When my son played for East Rutherford they lost in the 1st round to mount pleasant. That was his last game ever playing football and was a devastating loss ( last second FG for the win ) it was actually a nice place to see a game. Long way tho. Best of luck to Shelby.

Shelbyfan1, Mount Pleasant visitor stand has large concrete stands. You might be mistaken of the old stadium right off Hwy 49. The old stadium had stands right on the field and was a great place to watch a game. The new field has a track between the field and stands, but is still a good place to watch a game.

MP has to play a PERFECT game to have any chance. MP has to eliminate the dumb penalties (16 vs Foard!!). Besides the LB that is so good who are the other players to watch... Does Shelby have a balance offense or a they heavy on pass or run?

All 3 of Shelby's Backers are very good, and most likely the best MP will see even if they go all the way. As far as penalties, believe Shelby had 14 against SP. Shelby can run or pass, and will take what the D gives them. Just hope for fair a fair officiated game, as the crew at SP last Friday were a disgrace to high school football. In fact they sucked out big.

I remember being at that game. ER had a helluva runningback that year. White kid. Only played one year I believe.

Mt. Pleasant will play us very tight. Not to mention if we get a crew of zebras like we did against SP. That group should be demoted to refereeing mighty might football. Mt. Pleasant plays solid upfront and they rarely make a lot of mistakes or turnovers.
Agreed .....we have to play with discipline and sure up the issues they will see on film from us for example our pitiful kickoff coverage!

Looks like MP has a pretty balanced offense. Stout defense with a beast on D-line. 2 losses against decent teams. This could be a good one.
They were driving in 2015 to take the lead late in the fourth quarter and dropped a pass in the end zone. MT Pleasant seems to always throw the ball pretty good against us. The tall receiver for them is a concern. I have a feeling this game will be decided by 7 or less.

We can not have a letdown from last week.

We were worried about that too....then we thought...

Hell no we will not be flat. We will come out on fire. Now we got SP beat, these guys are hungry for THEIR RING!!! They will be intense the rest of the way. These seniors are leaders and they won't let the team be flat. We think they will be busting heads just like they did this past week.

Shelby scrimmaged Robinson this year. It was 41-7 Shelby after 2 quarters.....just saying.

And Crest should have beat Robinson last night. Had a fumble return for a TD and lost 24-21. Shelby beat Crest.

Well 72 ASSOCIATION Champ, no one cares about the score of a scrimmage...3 months ago.

The bottom line is the score was 28-14 against a team that would finish near the bottom of Shelby's conference. What could have been will make little difference in this game. Shelby is a balanced team that will take advantage of whatever the other team gives them. Can pass for 300 yrs or run for 200 or more. I have not seen or heard much of Mt. Pleasant so I can't speak of them but Shelby is getting better by the week. They lost 2 games, one to the 5th rated team in the nation and the other to a South Point team that was one of the better teams in the state at any level. Strength of schedule was #1 in 2A which says a lot about the competition Shelby has faced. We will all know more Friday night. Scrimmage could show the difference in talent level of each team even though it was 3 months age.
