He went off on the National Council of Anal Assaultees? Did they revoke Guppy Eyes' membership card or something?

No seriously. What did the NCAA do to Mississippi Tennis?

if it would have been any sport bigger than tennis, it'd be all over ESPN. In short: No. 2 national seed. Led the nation in attendance. Undefeated in the SEC, 26-2 overall. Six SEC teams host. Ole Miss has to travel to LSU after hosting a regional for eight straight years and shattering attendance records.

I wonder how big a soap box he has? I thought he was a reporter not an ombudsman? Oh well, I guess he feels like the Ole Miss Tennis team getting the shaft is more important than Pig Flu, Iraq, Afghanistan, our crumbling economy, the Mexican drug war or any thing else that might seem important to the everyday U.S. citizen that lives out side of north Mississippi. Way to go Shep! You go girl!</p>

plus, the pig flu is the most overblown bs this decade. While 150 people have died from pig flu, 13,000 have died from regular flu.

And none of the major news networks (Fox included) are even mentioning that the one death in the U.S. was a Mexican who came to the U.S. for treatment.

......and their successes as well as injustices. I can't think of another single news item any day on a national "news" network that's more important than the constant, daily promotion of Ole Miss.

without compromising your ability to get the real news.

Hell, I'm surprised Fox hasn't fired him after going off against torture.

Who.......freaking.......cares? Unless the Ole Miss tennis team is being waterboarded at Guantanamo then it is not news. Certainly with all that is going on in the world Shep looks like a petty moron pimping Ole Miss. It would be different if he was on SportsCenter or something.

1) I saw Smith interviewing Oher on Fox News the other day. The subtitle for Smith read "Ole Miss Alumnus". Is he in denial, or is he covering up doctoring up his resume?

2) More seriously, does he give to University generously? Obviously, free publicity has a value in itself. But, since he apparently loves the place so much, I was curious if he backs it up with his wallet?

If you don't like him, and I don't, you don't have to watch him, and again I don't. It's pretty simple really.

I guess that's what happens when you assume. I retract my first question.

So, what's the latin word for graduate? Graduate?

thats why he's on in my office. Just pointing out that he's bitching about it on his show. Its tennis I know, but it could have been MSU baseball. I worked for the NCAA for two years. Their opinion of Mississippi is the stereotypical opinion. I worked there after the flag flap - they assume we are all racists because we allow that to be a part of the state flag. I worked with Division II Olympic sports and Delta State would regularly get a screwjob in my opinion, but nothing like this.

Turn the goddamn channel. Moreover, if you're relying on FNC for your "news," then you deserve whatever degree of suffering you endured during his 13 second aside regarding Ole Miss tennis.

I hate this BS. I mean, they are punishing a school and student athletes based solely on where they are located. It's not like those athletes or even the school has a say in what our flag looks like.

What a bunch of hypocritical bastards - what does a state's flag have to do with college athletics? Doesn't UM have some lawyers somewhere that can get this rule thrown out?

The flag flap isn't over. It is the sole reason UM is not hosting the tennis regional and it's just a matter of time before either MSU or UM get screwed out of a baseball regional for the same reason.
